Qualifying for a Potential Taiko Airdrop

If you've been following me for a bit, you may have seen me mention Taiko in one of my recent posts, focusing on some of the perks holders of a Galxe Passport can qualify for on the Galxe platform. Currently, Taiko is offering a whopping 2500 points in their questline for participants holding either a Galxe Passport or a Gitcoin Passport. (Similarly, Linea was also offering 2500 points in their questline a few weeks back - that questline resulted in an NFT airdrop commemorating the launch of the Linea mainnet.) But if we take a step back and look at the Taiko project in general - is it worth it to participate in their various quests and testnet activities? If you're an airdrop hunter, it might be. These type of projects in the past have occasionally yielded airdrop rewards for contributors - and Taiko's Zealy page specifically mentions a potential airdrop. Let's dive in, eh?

(Disclaimer: I am not a financial advisor. It's your responsibility to do extensive research and consult a professional before investing.)

What is Taiko?

Taiko is a decentralized, Ethereum-equivalent zkRollup. The project is currently utilizing the Sepolia Ethereum testnet as well as their own Taiko tesnet during the current phase of testing. You can dive into more details about Taiko in the documentation on their website, but if you've been participating in these type of testnets in the past, I don't think you'll find anything too out of the ordinary here.

Getting Started with Taiko on Galxe

Taiko is currently running a "Getting Started With Taiko" campaign on Galxe; the above-mentioned 2500 Trust Bonus is only one part of the overall campaign. Taiko had an additional nine tasks available on Galxe for the platform last week, and they were all relatively easy to complete. (These tasks mainly consist of some social media activities, blog post readings, and a few quizes at the end.) This week, there are three more opportunities to earn points on Galxe from Taiko - also focusing mainly on reading some blog posts and various social media tasks. Collecting these Galxe points - especially the large Trust Bonus - may put users in a better position to qualify for a potential airdrop from Taiko in the future.

Taiko Testnet Activities

Another potential way to earn airdrop rewards from these type of projects is to regularly test out various transactions on the testnet. Here's a quick rundown of what users can do currently to interact with the Taiko testnet:

  • Add the Sepolia and Taiko testnets to your wallet if you haven't already. You can go to ChainList to find the correct information for these testnets, and even add them via the one-click link to your MetaMask wallet.

  • Make a bridge transaction between the Sepolia testnet and the Taiko testnet. Currently, you can send ETH, BULL, and HORSE back and forth between Sepolia and Taiko. I usually try to make a handful of various transactions every week on the testnets I'm participating in to hopefully maximize my qualifications for any potential airdrop.

Taiko Zealy Quests

Taiko's Zealy questboard is rather short compared to many other projects, but you'll find some usual tasks like the daily/weekly connects, Twitter tasks, etc. But one thing that stuck out to me is the NFT quest. This is where Taiko mentions that NFT holders "are likely to receive airdrops and receive priority consideration." Currently, NFTs can be minted for 5 MATIC for users who are interested in potentially upping their chances for an airdrop.

Summary

As you can see, participating in the vast majority of Taiko's current quests and testnet activities are currently both easy and free (aside from the 5 MATIC that you may or may not choose to spend on Taiko's NFT.) Taiko is also one of the only projects utilizing Sepolia that I'm interacting with at the moment, so maintaining a good supply of Sepolia test Ethereum has been a breeze. And at the end of the day, even if there isn't an airdrop from any given project, I do find that my time and effort spent on these types of activities can increase my knowledge about the project specifically and the crypto ecosystem in general.

Happy hunting!
