Cold Wave Protection Tips: The Indian Meteorological Department had again warned of cold wave a few days back. According to him, the northern region is once again going to be in the grip of severe cold. In the northern part of the country, the mercury of cold has been very low for the last few days, especially in the morning and evening, the temperature drops significantly. Due to cold, people also fall in the grip of diseases like frostbite, hypothermia. In such a situation, let us know how you can protect yourself from this cold.



What can be done to avoid cold wave?


wear multiple layers of clothing

The best way to avoid the bitter cold is to wear several layers of clothes. By doing this, heat remains in the body and you remain warm. It is also necessary to wear a hat, warm cap, gloves and scarf to keep the mouth, nose, hands, neck and head covered and warm.

don't let yourself get wet

If your clothes get even a little wet, you can catch a cold. So wear a layer of waterproof jacket on top. This will save you from getting wet from rain, dew drops. If you get wet, change clothes immediately.


get out less

If possible for you, stay at home. If you have to go outside, try to keep yourself as warm as possible.

keep the house warm

The house can be kept warm by using things like heaters, oil heaters. Put a thick curtain on the window at night. Do not open all the windows and doors of the house.

don't forget to drink water

We don't sweat in winter, so we feel very less thirsty. Most people drink very little water during this time. However, you would be surprised to know that dehydration can also happen in winter. That's why don't forget to drink 7 to 8 glasses of water even in cold days. Apart from this, you should also eat hot soup, fruits and vegetables. Lack of water in the body can make you feel more cold, which increases your chances of falling sick.

To keep your body warm and full of energy, eat hot and nutritious food. During this, minimize the consumption of alcohol and caffeine. Both these things cause a lack of water in your body.

Know the symptoms of frostbite and hypothermia

Hypothermia is a dangerous condition in which your body temperature drops far below normal. Symptoms include tremors, confusion, slurred speech, and fatigue. Whereas, frostbite is a cold-related illness caused by freezing of the skin and tissues. Symptoms include numbness, tingling, and pale or bluish-gray discoloration of the skin. One should immediately go to the doctor as soon as such symptoms appear.
