The Interview That Wasn’t Meant for Me
Chinedu applied for one job. Just one. He wasn’t even qualified on paper.
His friend sent him the link at 11:58pm and said “try.” The deadline was midnight. He rushed, submitted, and forgot about it.
3 weeks later he got a call: “Is this Chinedu? Can you come for interview tomorrow 9am?”
He panicked. No suit. No transport. His phone was even off that morning because of NEPA. He got to the company at 9:47am, sweating, holding a borrowed tie.
The HR lady looked at him and said, “You’re late.”
He just said, “Ma, if it had not been for God’s grace, I wouldn’t even be here.”
She paused. Then she smiled and said, “Come in.”
The interview was 10 minutes. They asked 3 questions. He answered honestly.
Two days later: “You got the job.”
On his first day, his manager told him: “We already gave the role to someone else. But your file came back to the top of the pile this morning. We don’t know why. So we called you.”
Chinedu knew why.

Aanu sha ni mo ri gba o”_
If it had not been for grace and mercy.
Sometimes your miracle is late, underdressed, and doesn’t make sense on paper. But grace still finds you.
