From a VillaTo The Moving Villa The Moving Villa is the residence of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk after the Baltacı and Termal Atatürk Mansions where he accommodated and located within the borders of Millet Farm. Afterwards it took place within the land where Horticultural Regional Research Institute was established and didn't accept visitors for long years.
The villa which had been out of use until 1980, took part among the protection needed cultural and natural properties in accordance with the decision dated 12.07.1980 day and numbered 12238 of the High Council of Immovable Monuments and Antiquities of the Ministry of Culture.
In 1983 the bust of Atatürk was built in the Moving Villa's garden by the district governor of that time and the sentence belonging to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk which was said in the 1st March of 1922 in Ankara was written on it: "we should raise the opportunities of the nation in the farms to the highest level by means of modern and economic precautions". The first date when the Moving Villa was brought to the agenda of Turkey is the 5th of June 1998, the event of World Environmental Day.
The minister of environment of that time Dr. Imren Aykut made a pres- entation of the Moving Villa through a broad participation press meet- ing and the following words of her for the villa show that the role of the building in history goes beyond being a residence of a leader: "It is very important in respect of reflecting environmental awareness he had in 1930".
The Moving Villa is a historical building which has to be seen by more people and at the same time it is like a monument where the base for the environmental awareness in Turkey was laid. The villa should be used as a museum and share the characteristic which was acquired on the construction day was built with broader masses. After the organization of the World Environmental Day, the buildings which would be used for cafeteria and Atatürk's Library, were built in the garden of the villa for people who would come here too often. After the restoration on a small scale and limited landscape design the Mansion had been opened for the use of people with the ceremony in 77th Anniversary of Atatürk's arrival to Yalova.
In 2005 the Moving Villa was transferred to Yalova Municipality by means of a protocol which was made by the Governorship of Yalova and the Directo- rate of National Palaces. After the death of Atatürk, the procedure fitting the purpose of the recent use of the Moving Villa which is a part of Horticultural Regional Research Institute was built. After this registration in 2006, its restoration was done by Yalova Municipality and it was opened to the visitors as a result of the decision with regard to museum use. On the 19th of November 2011, Yalova Municipality explained that the new restoration works of the villa would start in December 2011 and the landscape project would also be included in the project.
In 2013, the restoration of the villa was completed in accordance with the decision numbered 2017 of Kocaeli Cultural Properties Preservation Board. During the restoration works, the exterior wall in white colour that had been built in the previous restoration was transformed into its original form and covered by timber. On the 19th August of 2013, the villa was again opened for visits in the 84th Anniversary of Atatürk's arrival at Yalova.
