"Marvel Phase 1" refers to the first set of interconnected superhero films produced by Marvel Studios, leading up to the crossover event film "The Avengers." The films included in Phase 1 are:

  1. "Iron Man" (2008) - The first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Iron Man" tells the story of Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and injured by terrorists in the Middle East. Stark escapes by building a powered suit of armor and, upon returning to the United States, decides to use his newfound abilities to fight crime and protect the world. The film establishes Stark as a flawed yet likable protagonist and sets up the themes of power and responsibility that will become a recurring motif in the MCU.
  2. "The Incredible Hulk" (2008) - Although technically a standalone film, "The Incredible Hulk" is considered a part of Phase 1 due to the character's eventual inclusion in "The Avengers" and the film's continuity with the rest of the MCU. The film tells the story of Bruce Banner, a scientist who turns into a monstrous green Hulk when he gets angry. The film explores the concept of the Hulk as a dangerous force of nature and sets up Banner's search for a cure to his condition.
  3. "Iron Man 2" (2010) - The second "Iron Man" film sees Stark dealing with the consequences of revealing his secret identity as Iron Man and facing off against Whiplash, a new villain who seeks to take down Stark Industries. The film also introduces Black Widow and sets up the character for future appearances in the MCU.
  4. "Thor" (2011) - The film tells the story of Thor, the Asgardian prince who is banished to Earth by his father Odin, and must learn humility and responsibility before he can reclaim his rightful place as king. The film establishes Thor as a powerful and noble hero, but also a prideful and impulsive one. It also introduce Loki as the main villain, and set up Thor's role in the Avengers.
  5. "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011) - The film tells the story of Steve Rogers, a frail man transformed into the super-soldier Captain America during World War II. The film explores the character's origin story, his relationships with other characters such as Peggy Carter, Bucky Barnes and Howard Stark and it also provides an insight on how Captain America adapts to the 21st century after been frozen for decades. It also sets up Captain America's role in the events leading up to "The Avengers."
  6. "Marvel's The Avengers" (2012) - The culmination of Phase 1, "The Avengers" sees Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye team up to stop Loki and his army of aliens from invading Earth. The film showcases the characters' interactions and conflicts, as well as their eventual cooperation, to save the world. It also establish the role of S.H.I.E.L.D, an organization that will be a key part in the MCU.

Overall, Marvel Phase 1 was the foundation of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Each film introduced key characters and established their backstory, while also planting seeds for future films and the eventual formation of The Avengers team. It also set up the continuity and interconnectedness of the MCU and established the tone and themes that would be explored in later films. The success of Phase 1 paved the way for the even more ambitious and successful Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the MCU, which saw the introduction of new characters and the expansion of the universe with films like "Doctor Strange" and "Guardians of the Galaxy."
