The Only Crypto Airdrop You Should Be Farming

If you’re active in the world of crypto, you’re probably well aware that airdrop farming is all the rage right now. On a daily basis, some of the biggest influencers in the space are advising that airdrops are the best way to make life-changing money this season. Thus, it’s not surprising that so many people are working hard for that coveted allocation. Personally, I was eager to collect all the drops out there until I realised where my time would be better spent. Read on to find out why io.net is the only airdrop I’m looking at.

What is io.net?

DePIN is the hot topic right now and io.net is a leading project at its forefront, offering a cutting-edge marketplace for individuals and organisations to buy and sell AI compute resources on-demand. The key point here is that the demand for AI compute significantly outweighs the supply — it is unfathomably expensive and traditional providers struggle to combat a number of issues. However, io.net offers AI compute resources at a fraction of the industry price with its scalable solutions. For more information about the ways in which io.net is changing the game, click here to read my recent article. For now, let’s focus on their upcoming airdrop.

Why should I focus on farming this airdrop over others?

Firstly, I’m not advising you to do anything so please note that nothing in this article is financial advice. However, I devote all of my free time to this project for a number of reasons which I would like to share with others who are interested.
To begin, io.net is tackling a whole host of issues within the AI space — a space that is gaining mass adoption at an incredible rate. If you ask me, AI is the future whether we like it or not, so any project that contributes to its development by offering solutions to real-world challenges catches my attention immediately. Specifically, io.net is building the world’s largest AI compute DePIN — just look at the number of GPUs they have available to hire, listen to their AMAs and check out their documentation. Surely then you will see why I’m so in awe of what they’re doing.
One key selling point for me is that there will be no ICO (initial coin offering) for the $IO token, meaning that the launch will be fair for investors at all levels. This also means that the only way to obtain the $IO token before it becomes publicly listed is to be a passionate member of the community who is genuinely committed to the project. This is what I personally love most as it has allowed for the creation of a vibrant community full of knowledgeable people who aren’t just looking for a quick buck, but rather a slice of something we collectively know is going to be monumental.
In contrast, other communities I have been a part of recently seem to be full of bog standard airdrop farmers who have no idea about the true value in what they’re working towards — they’re just doing it because it’s easy and they want a few tokens that they’ll most likely sell immediately after launch. I don’t feel this applies when it comes to io.net.

How do I farm the $IO airdrop?

There are a number of ways to secure your allocation of the $IO token airdrop, so let’s start with the most rewarding and possibly the easiest option.
Before all else, io.net rewards its most loyal workers who provide their GPU (or CPU in the case of Mac users). By simply running your device as a ‘worker’, you are passively accruing an amount of tokens. “But how many tokens?”… we don’t have a definitive answer on this yet (for good reason) but we’ll get on to that shortly. For a guide on how you can provide your GPU/CPU to io.net, see here for their official documentation. Please note that not all devices are compatible so you might have to sit this part out or alternatively, you could purchase a device that is suitable to run as a worker. The longer you keep your worker running, the more airdrop allocation you will earn.
Another way to get your hands on the $IO token airdrop is by completing all available quests on Galxe. Simply by engaging with Tweets and visiting the io.net website on a daily basis, you can boost your position on the leaderboard. You can also claim points for obtaining higher ‘tier’ roles in the io.net Discord — this is where the hard work really comes in.
For the Airdrop Tier 1 role, it’s simple! Just head to the #wallet-submission channel in Discord and submit your Solana wallet address. In order to get the Airdrop Tier 2 role, you just need to attend the Team AMA on Wednesdays and be sure to interact with the bot afterwards. Easy, right? Well, from here it’s up to you…
The moderators manually award Airdrop Tiers 3 to 10 exclusively to the most engaging, informative and helpful members within the io.net community. By supporting new members in the Discord chat, creating quality content on X (formerly Twitter) and collaborating with mods to find ways in which you can contribute, you have a chance at moving up the ranks. However, there’s no playbook, nor is there any guarantee that you will achieve the higher tiers. Thus, it’s not a very appealing model for run-of-the-mill airdrop farmers looking for some quick cash so they’re more likely to move along to the next thing, ultimately preserving the authentic spirit within the io.net community.
As I mentioned previously, there is no portal that tells you how many airdrop points you have earned for supplying your GPU, nor is there any indication at present in terms of how much each airdrop tier role is worth — once again repelling those looking for a fast payday. Instead, the finest members of the community are able to prioritise being a team player over any reward, and anything we do get in return is just an added bonus!

What is the proposed utility of the $IO token?

The $IO coin will be central to transactions, security and network feature access within the io.net ecosystem, forming an exciting and innovative model that is being referred to as ‘Compute-as-a-Currency’.
In short, the $IO token will be the currency exchanged for AI compute resources, meaning that organisations looking to take advantage of io.net’s extensive network of GPUs will be required to pay for transactions using the native $IO coin. Now, imagine you’re a major tech company running complex AI machine learning tasks… you’re going to have to purchase a fair amount of $IO tokens from the market, thus increasing the overall value of the token.
For a deeper insight into the proposed utility of the $IO token, I strongly recommend joining the Team AMA on Wednesday, where you’ll be able to hear it first-hand and ask any questions you may have.

Moving forward

I wish you all the best of luck in securing your $IO allocation if you choose to do so. I know I’ll be putting in every spare minute I have, as this opportunity is certainly not one to be missed.

I write a new article about io.net here on Medium at 14:00 UTC every single day! Be sure to follow me for more insight into what is, in my opinion, probably one of the biggest projects we will see in our lifetimes.
