Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, is expanding its reach into the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. Consequently, the company is opening new job vacancies to fill positions within its AI division.

As disclosed on Tuesday (26/3/24), Tether's foray into the AI sector aims to advance accessibility and efficiency of artificial intelligence.

According to Tether, its artificial intelligence focus will encompass the development of open-source multimodal AI models as a "new industry standard."
"Artificial intelligence is poised to revolutionize nearly every aspect of our lives, both in the real and digital worlds," said Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino.

"Our investment in Northern Data Group, known for its robust and high-quality technology, fully aligns with our vision," Ardoino added.

Alongside this announcement, Tether listed new job positions focused on AI, namely AI Engineers and Head of AI Research and Development. Both positions are primarily remote, but Tether listed office locations including Paris, Madrid, London, and Milan.

In November 2023, Tether invested US$622.6 million in Northern Data Group based in Frankfurt, Germany, a technology company specializing in generative AI cloud platforms, Bitcoin mining operations, and data center infrastructure provision.

"With growing concerns about the monopolization of AI technology by Big Tech, with this announcement, Tether advances to advocate for transparency and privacy in AI model development," said Ardoino.
