THE HOOK OF A THREAD CAN MAKE OR BREAK A THREAD

The hook is the most important part of a thread.

It’s the difference between 100 reads and 10,000+ impressions.

Here’s why the hook can make or break your thread — and how to fix yours 🧵👇

People don’t scroll X looking for your thread.

They’re looking for dopamine.

Your hook is your only shot at interruption.

No attention = no reads.
No reads = no replies, no growth, no reach.

The hook isn’t just the first sentence.
It’s the entry point to your entire value.

It should spark one thing immediately:

→ Curiosity.

If they aren’t curious after reading your hook, they’re gone.

You could write the most valuable thread ever...
But if your hook is weak?

It dies before it even gets read.

Your hook has ONE job:

📌 Get them to click “Show more”

Think of your hook like a thumbnail on YouTube.

A good thumbnail → clicks.

A bad thumbnail → scroll.

Same logic applies to X.

Here’s what a good hook does:

✅ Sparks emotion or tension
✅ Creates open loops
✅ Feels natural, not robotic
✅ Sets up a clear WHY to read more

Bad hook example:
"Here are 7 tips for writing online."

Yawn. Dead on arrival.

Better version:
“I used to write tweets nobody read. Then one thread hit 500,000 views.
Here’s exactly what I did differently 🧵”

See the difference?

🔥 Pro tip:

Before writing your thread, write 3-5 hooks.

Test them with a friend.
Pick the one that makes you want to click.
Only then should you build the thread underneath it.

Your hook is the handshake.
The first impression.
The pitch at the door.

Make it boring, and they’ll never know how good the rest was.

Make it strong, and people stay to read everything.

→ A thread without a good hook is like a shop with no sign.
→ People only read what pulls them in.
→ Master the hook, and you master attention.
