Price of Bitcoin by Years
The fact that the remarkable increases in the price of Bitcoin occurred in the years following the Bitcoin Block Reward Halving can be shown as an important sign that the Bitcoin supply, which decreases by half every four years, increases the value of Bitcoin.
Since January 3, 2009, when the first block of the Bitcoin blockchain was produced, three reward halvings have occurred.
With the reward halving that took place in 2012, the amount of Bitcoin produced in each block decreased from 50 Bitcoins to 25 Bitcoins.
While production decreased to 12.5 Bitcoin in 2016, with the 3rd Bitcoin Block Reward Halving that took place on May 11, 2020, Bitcoin miners started to earn 6.25 Bitcoin for each block they verified.
