Episode 16: The Queen's Final Secret
The massive stone pillar crashed down.
"Adunni!" King Adebayo screamed.
At the last second...
General Tunde lunged forward.
He shoved Adunni out of the way.
BOOM!
The pillar smashed into the ground, sending dust and rubble flying across the chamber.
General Tunde groaned in pain as a heavy rock trapped his leg.
"I'm fine!" he shouted.
"Go! Save the letter!"
Adunni clutched the Queen's letter tightly against her chest.
Meanwhile...
Chief Balogun laughed as flames swallowed the ancient chamber.
"You'll all die down here!"
He turned to escape.
But before he reached the staircase...
A voice thundered behind him.
"Not this time."
Prince Adewale stood in his path.
Balogun frowned.
"You?"
The prince drew his sword.
"You used me for sixteen years."
"You promised me the throne..."
"But you never intended to keep your word."
Balogun smiled coldly.
"I only needed a fool desperate enough to fight my battles."
Prince Adewale's eyes filled with rage.
"So... I was nothing but your pawn."
With a furious roar...
He charged at Balogun.
Steel clashed against steel as the two traitors fought each other.
The chamber echoed with the sound of swords.
King Adebayo turned to Adunni.
"The letter..."
"Finish reading it!"
With trembling hands...
Adunni continued.
*"My daughter..."*
*"If these words have reached you, then Balogun has already revealed his true face."*
Everyone froze.
*"He poisoned your grandfather..."*
*"Manipulated Prince Adewale..."*
*"And planned the fall of our family long before you were born."*
Mama Sade covered her mouth in shock.
"So it was Balogun all along..."
Adunni read the final lines.
*"The one who possesses the Royal Seal hidden inside this chamber is the true ruler of this kingdom."*
*"Protect it... at all costs."*
Just then...
A loud crack echoed through the room.
The crystal pedestal split open.
Inside...
Rested a glowing golden seal shaped like a lion.
The Royal Seal.
Balogun saw it.
His eyes widened with greed.
"The seal... is mine!"
He kicked Prince Adewale aside and sprinted toward the pedestal.
Adunni ran too.
Both reached for the Royal Seal at the same moment.
But before either of them could touch it...
The chamber shook violently.
A deep voice echoed from beneath the earth.
"Only the rightful heir..."
"...may claim the seal."
The floor beneath the pedestal suddenly collapsed.
The Royal Seal disappeared into the darkness below.
Adunni and Balogun lost their footing...
And both fell into the bottomless pit together.
