Before Everyone else, there was me.
Have you ever felt like your whole existence was built on someone else? Hang on, let me share a little story with you.
Hi there! I'm Classik P.
All my life I've always put my value and self-worth on others even without knowing. I never really made any decisions for myself, it was always about how others would feel.
My childhood wasn't as lovable as it should be, but I scaled through. While growing up, I always rated myself with the love I got from other people. I tried so hard not to make them hate or dislike me, not minding if that decision would hurt me. And even after doing all this, they never really stayed. At a point, I got depressed for months.
I stayed in my room crying all day because I was always accused of things I never did, but instead of the people I called friends asking me what happened, they decided to judge me for it. I hated myself and blamed my existence for it all. I started reading books to escape reality, then one day it all hit me.
Before every other person that ever showed up in my life, there was someone — a person who has always been there through my darkest moments. A person that sat on the cold floor of my room and consoled me while I cried in silence, struggling for my breath. That person was me.
I read about self-worth and I decided to practice it. Trust me, it wasn't easy because I was going through family issues and it was difficult to cope without being around people who were supposed to love me. Instead of giving others all the gratitude for all I did, I decided to keep a little for myself. I knew nothing about myself because my whole life existed on others, so I started developing more about me.
And here's a hard truth that motivational speakers wouldn't tell you: life can really get hard, even harder than it already is now, but trust me, it does get better. It really does.
You just have to pick yourself up and try again. When you get tired, you are allowed to rest, but don't give up, because you'll always be held responsible for you.
I'm still learning, still working on myself, still trying not to put my worth on people. But the old me who measured her worth by what other's think is gone and gone for good.
Have you ever felt this way before?
