The issue of why dinosaurs became extinct is still a matter of debate among paleontologists and scientists, but there are some generally accepted theories. Here are the main theories about the extinction of dinosaurs:

Asteroid Impact: This theory is the most prominent and generally accepted theory. In this event, called the Cretaceous-Tertiary Extinction, it is thought that a giant asteroid collided with the earth approximately 66 million years ago, causing the formation of a large crater called the Chicxulub crater. This collision may have created a giant cloud of dust and smoke in the atmosphere, blocking sunlight, cooling and limiting photosynthesis. This may have caused severe disruption of the food chain and extinction of many species.

Volcanic Activity (Deccan Traps): Another theory suggests that large volcanic eruptions called Deccan Traps were instrumental in the extinction of the dinosaurs. These eruptions occurred in India and caused the release of large amounts of lava and gas. This could lead to an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, negatively affecting ecosystems along with climate changes.

Changes in sea level: Changes in sea level may also have contributed to the extinction of dinosaurs. Changes in sea level can affect land and marine ecosystems, shrinking dinosaur habitats and disrupting food chains.

Each of these theories are just a few of the factors combined to explain the extinction of the dinosaurs. Arguably, the complexity of this event may have resulted from a combination of several factors. Although the exact and definitive reason for the extinction of dinosaurs is still unknown, the scientific world is doing more research on this subject.
