On Monday, Donald Trump, the former president, said that he has no intentions to return to Twitter, even if Elon Musk restored his account.

Instead, Trump said he intended to continue with his own social media startup, Truth Social.

In a statement made soon before the board of Twitter overwhelmingly approved Elon Musk's $44 billion acquisition bid for the firm, Donald Trump said.

President Trump said in a statement that he hopes Elon Musk buys Twitter because it will be improved, and he is a terrific guy, but he will be sticking with TRUTH.

"I am not going on Twitter; I am going to stay on TRUTH," Trump told Fox News in a statement issued shortly before Musk's $44 billion buyout offer for Twitter was accepted unanimously by the company's board.
"I hope Elon buys Twitter because he'll make improvements to it, and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH,"

It has been widely reported that Tesla chief executive Elon Musk aims to take Twitter private and reduce the amount of content monitoring.

Following the assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat removed Trump permanently from their platforms for his alleged participation in encouraging violence.

Following his criticism of then-Vice President Mike Pence's efforts to confirm Joe Biden's 2020 election victory, his Twitter account was banned for 12 hours during the riots.

To prevent any more acts of encouragement to violence, Twitter has permanently banned the @realDonaldTrump account, according to a tweet that announced the permanent suspension.

"After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them, we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,"

Truth Social, Trump's own social media network, was launched last month, and it had a rocky start.

Trump has not yet joined the platform, which has difficulty attracting new members. Ex-presidential candidate Mitt Romney said to Fox News that he intends to join,

"over the next seven days, as planned."

Trump utilized Twitter as a campaign weapon to gain traction in the Republican primary and ultimately win the election. As soon as he won the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump stated he wasn't sure how frequently he would use Twitter as president.

In an interview with CBS' 60 Minutes, Trump said,

"I'm going to be very restrained if I use it at all,"

Although Trump's usage of the social media site increased throughout his presidency, his tweeting continued to escalate as he sparred with opponents, floated conspiracy theories, and enraged foreign rivals.
