Limited Adult Franchise

Time has arrived for India to move from universal adult franchise to limited adult franchise.

Our ancestors fought hard to bring UAF in the hands of the common citizen. Countless lives, centuries of ideological, physical fights fought. They placed their trust in the capability of common citizen to elect their representative. It helped helped india set its track on being developed, helped us feel freedom firsthand.

After more then 75 years of UAF we've reached where its time to recollect and analyze it.

With rise of Regionalism, vote bank and communal politics. People haven't realised the power that they hold. They vote for the individual who help them on occasion of elections like providing some job opportunity, ease in some official work. For the short time favour received they forget what vote can truly do for the welfare of the country. This paralysis strip off their power from hands. Politicians control them with ease and vanish off after elections.

With such large population and democratic framework supporting it, its essential for we seek more accountability from our representatives. Major chunk is uneducated and not much aware of indian polity.
Main problem is with educated chunk, who don't even know names of MP/MLA of their area, what they stand for. This loosen up the very base of democracy.

Truth is we can't imagine india without UAF. It opposes the democratic principles. Even the thought is radical in nature especially in today's time.
