Many qualities are seen as innate, such as intelligence and personality. Leadership is one of these qualities.

What's really helped me is having a mentor that can guide me through tough times, that I can bounce ideas off, and more importantly, who is not afraid to tell me that I need to be doing something better. And I really like what you said about great leaders being great listeners - Great leaders are like sponges who are observant and absorb knowledge.
