Chelsea fans seem to have lost patience with Mauricio Pochettino. Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, the amount Todd Boehly has spent has been substantial. The club's record signings have all come during Pochettino's reign, yet they have not translated into progress for the team.
At this point, Chelsea finds themselves languishing in mid-table and seemingly out of contention for the fourth position.Things escalated during the 2-2 draw against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. Chelsea fans could be heard jeering Pochettino throughout the match, seemingly signaling the 'doom' of the 52-year-old manager.
Predicting Chelsea's next manager for the upcoming season won't be easy. Currently, there are several unemployed managers in the market such as Zinedine Zidane, Antonio Conte, and even Jose Mourinho.
Meanwhile, Mail Sport reported in February that Chelsea has long been interested in another Portuguese coach - Ruben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon. However, Amorim seems to be eyeing the hot seat at Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp is set to depart at the end of the season.
Chelsea has affirmed their support for Pochettino. However, it's worth noting what happened last season when they sacked Graham Potter in April and only won one of their remaining 10 Premier League matches to finish 12th.
Chelsea currently sits 11th in the Premier League but has reached the FA Cup quarter-finals. A deep run in this tournament could secure them a spot in the Europa League.
Considering the bigger picture, Pochettino might stay until the end of the season. However, it's unlikely he'll last beyond the next season.
At this point, Mourinho, who led Roma to two consecutive European finals, was sacked by the club in February after they slipped to 9th in the Serie A standings.
Chelsea fans are familiar with this manager. He had two stints at Stamford Bridge, helping the team secure 8 trophies, including 3 Premier League titles.
Returning to Chelsea, Mourinho would have the freedom to spend. It would be a stark contrast to his time at AS Roma, where he constantly complained about financial constraints.
