THE NIGHT SHIFT
Amina got a new job as a security guard in a bank in Lekki. Night shift. N80k per month. Good money.
First night, her supervisor told her: "Two rules. 1. Don't sleep. 2. If you hear someone typing inside the banking hall at 1am, don't go and check."
She said okay.
12am, everything normal. She was watching Instagram.
1:00am exactly, she started hearing _kpa kpa kpa kpa_ - someone typing very fast inside the banking hall. The bank is closed. No one is inside.
She remembered rule 2.
1:15am, typing continued.
1:30am, she heard a man say, "Amina, come and help me balance this account."
Her blood froze. She didn't answer.
Morning came, she told her supervisor.
Supervisor smiled and said, "Ah, you heard him? That was Mr. Bayo. He was the account officer here. He died on his desk during audit in 2019. He never finished balancing his account. He does that every night."
Amina resigned that same morning.
She said N80k is not worth seeing ghost that still dey work overtime.
