Follow these methods of meditation to calm and concentrate the mind

Meditation: We all know that yoga not only calms our body but also our heart and mind. Promotes a sense of positivity, optimism and happiness.
We have forgotten about these creative talents inherent within us as our mind and heart are filled with stress, anxiety and expectations. In such a situation, many times its effect starts appearing on our body as well.

But if we want to rekindle the creativity hidden within us, then for this we have to start meditation and yoga.
So what's the best way to meditate? Let us know the methods that will work best with our personality. However, it is up to you to decide which method is best for you.

1. Transcendental Meditation

This form of meditation was created in India by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and has seen great success around the world.
It is basically a mantra meditation which is done in silence and is said to help in reaching higher states of consciousness. Promotes heart health and lowers blood pressure.
The Beatles were followers of Transcendental Meditation and did much to support the practice and spread it across the seven seas.
This technique involves the use of a sound chanted silently in the mind and is practiced for 20 minutes a day. Proponents swear by its efficacy as a tool for self-development.

2. Guided Meditation

This is a focused exercise in which you listen to the therapist's voice while they help you create mental pictures of scenarios that feel calm and peaceful to you. When you imagine yourself in a gushing waterfall, sun rays flowing through the shade of trees, birds chirping, you are instantly transported to this serene environment. This form uses imagery as a powerful tool to access altered states of emotional fluidity.

3. Kindness and Compassion Meditation

It is similar to prayer where we direct our positive feelings towards others. With concentrated concentration, we send healing to them and wish them happiness and peace.
This helps us to reduce our own suffering, because when we send out good intentions, we are raising our own vibrations.

4. Kriya Meditation

This form of meditation is best for those who cannot sit still. Yoga and dance are also taught alongside the traditional Chinese systems of Qigong and Tai Chi.
Osho was an advocate of dance meditation and is said to have been inspired by the whirling dervishes of Sufism. It is best to do this meditation in conjunction with awareness when you are moving your body, whether to move or maintain a position.

5. Vipassana

This form of meditation originated from India and is rapidly gaining acceptance all over the world. Vipassana literally means feeling things as they are and is a practice that dates back 2500 years.
Vipassana is what gave rise to Mindfulness Meditation in the West. It is an 11-day silent retreat where the practitioner aims for transformation through introspection.
When a part of the body is uncomfortable and we focus on the physical sensations, we are forging a deeper connection between mind and body.
This relationship develops in a sense of interconnectedness with all and fosters love and kindness.

6. Mindfulness Meditation

This is probably the most popular form that has been commercialized by the big brand gurus of meditation who charge thousands of dollars for tickets to attend their retreats.

They teach us to be mindful which is the art of being present in the present. The present moment is your only reality, the past and future are like burning bubbles.

If you try to touch them, they explode. The present is what you can feel through your five senses and the art of mindfulness is paying attention to what you are feeling.

What do your eyes see? Does it create fear or attraction? What is it that you touch? Does it excite you or scare you? The smells around you, do they make you feel relaxed or stressed? If you combine these awareness techniques with yoga, the benefits double.

7. Mantra meditation or chanting

It is actually a very effective type of concentration exercise that uses certain words or phrases to prevent stray thoughts from polluting our mind.
Mantras can be seed sounds or syllables, such as Om, Klim, Hreem, Gam or they can be complete sentences such as Om Namah Shivaya.
You can use together as a divinely powerful mantra to still the mind. Make sure to wear loose clothes and then keep your spine straight to start chanting.
Mantras can be chanted out loud, or spoken in a whisper or contemplated in silence. Once you lose yourself in chanting, you will notice that the distracting thoughts are gone.

8. Candle Gazing

This is an ancient technique known as Tratak and it originated from India. The exercise is simple and extremely effective.
Keep your eyes open and focus on the candle flame.
Darken the room and wear loose clothing so that your spine is straight.
Your eyes will start to ache as you begin this exercise, but be consistent and you'll see incredible benefits.
You can also use a crystal to see. During this, you do not have to blink an eye.

9. Chakra Meditation

Chakras are the pinnacles of energy located in our body and the word translates to a wheel. These centers of energy hold our life force and if they are depleted, we are unable to function effectively in the world.
There are seven chakras starting from the base of the spine and going to the top of the head. Each chakra has a seed sound and color and during chakra meditation, we visualize each chakra, pronounce its seed sound and meditate on its corresponding color.
We can use the crystal and hold it over the chakra as we focus our attention on each.
