Mason Greenwood is currently on loan at Getafe from Manchester United, but his future beyond this season remains up for question.
After Manchester United decided it was in everyone’s best interests for Greenwood to find a new club following the court case against him for attempted rape and assault being dropped, they sent the forward on loan to Getafe in the summer.

So far, Greenwood has scored eight goals from 27 games for Jose Bordalas’ side.
Getafe do not have an option to buy Greenwood, though, leaving his future up in the air ahead of next season.
Here, TEAMtalk looks at every club to have been linked with Greenwood since his spell with Getafe began.

Getafe

Mason Greenwood in action for Getafe
Perhaps the most natural next step for Greenwood would be to extend his stay with Getafe, the second club of his career.
They may have difficulty affording him, depending on the parameters Man Utd set, but one advantage they have is the presence of a 20% sell-on fee, which would effectively allow them to sign the 22-year-old for less than anyone else.

Amid speculation linking him to Manchester United,

Getafe president Angel Torres said in January that they would consider ways in which to keep Greenwood.
Torres said: “We have not talked about price. We have talked about looking at the situation and seeing what they propose because there has also been a change of shareholding there at Manchester (United).
“But we are still happy with the meetings and with the videoconferences we have with them. It is still too early to consider either continuing for one more season or that they will propose a price and we will commit the whole (of the contract) because we have a percentage and to buy the rest.
“I believe a lot (in Greenwood). From here, we continue to work periodically, we continue to meet with Manchester (United) to see if they are happy.”

Barcelona

Getafe only finished 15th in LaLiga last season, so would not normally have stood a chance of signing Greenwood if it wasn’t for the exceptional circumstances.
Therefore, while he has been getting back up to speed in Spain, various outlets have suggested he could earn a move to a bigger club.
A dream destination in LaLiga would be Barcelona, whose interest was revealed in December by talkSPORT.
More recently, Barcelona were said to be at the front of the queue for the Bradfordian, per The Sun.
The same source has even suggested they would be willing to give him their iconic no.10 shirt.
Furthermore, Sport has suggested Barcelona would be Greenwood’s dream move, so much so that he may have instructed his agents about his plans.
However, it has since emerged that Barcelona could back away from the move because of potential backlash.

Real Madrid

On a similar level, Barcelona’s El Clasico rivals Real Madrid could consider Greenwood as a potential target.
Real Madrid monitored Greenwood earlier in his career, before his off-field allegations, and are believed to have been watching him since.
TEAMtalk sources have indicated their confidence that Greenwood will not return to English football.

AS had claimed that English clubs were scouting the striker, without naming which ones.
Real Madrid’s attack remains in evolution after the summer departure of club legend Karim Benzema for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League.
It is actually another English player, Jude Bellingham, who has been Madrid’s top scorer so far this season.
Greenwood is already playing in the Spanish capital, since that is where Getafe are based.

Atletico Madrid

With that in mind, Atletico Madrid could be in contention for Greenwood too.
According to Marca in December, Atletico were putting out feelers to Man Utd about Greenwood’s future availability.
After Getafe drew with Atletico in December, Antoine Griezmann admitted that Diego Simeone’s side “couldn’t stop” the Man Utd loanee.

Regular Champions League participants, Atletico have established themselves as LaLiga’s third strongest side after Barcelona and Real Madrid.
And recent reports have implied they could last the longest of the three in the race for Greenwood.

Valencia

In November, Valencia were named as one of two clubs monitoring Greenwood by a Sun source.
Their scouts were, at the time, close to the front of the queue of clubs observing the former England international.
Greenwood, in theory, would become Valencia’s first English player.

Real Sociedad

The other club tipped to be tracking Greenwood at the same time as Valencia’s interest emerged was Real Sociedad.
They were, in fact, the second club Greenwood played against in LaLiga after his debut against Osasuna.
La Real haven’t had an English player in their squad since the early 1990s.

Sevilla

One of the first clubs other than Getafe to be linked with Greenwood since he moved to Spain were Sevilla.
In October, the Daily Mirror claimed Sevilla were also on alert for the attacker.
Sevilla have done business with Man Utd before in recent years, taking Anthony Martial on loan a couple of years ago and Hannibal Mejbri on the same terms earlier this year.
Greenwood went on to score and assist against Sevilla in December, but a month later, the Andalusian side’s social media team mocked him for being pocketed by Sergio Ramos in a Copa del Rey match.

Bayern Munich

Most of the speculation surrounding Greenwood has revolved around staying in Spain, but he has been linked with clubs elsewhere in Europe too.
According to 90min in December, Bayern Munich were also keeping tabs on developments with Getafe’s no.12.
The German giants have brought in other English players in recent months such as Harry Kane and Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur, while they tried and failed for Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier in January.

Borussia Dortmund

The same update from 90min claimed Bayern’s domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund were also staying aware of the situation.
They went on to do business with Man Utd the following month, taking Jadon Sancho back to Germany on loan for the rest of the season.
A permanent deal for Sancho looks unlikely for financial reasons, though, and it remains to be seen what it would cost for them to take Greenwood if it is still something they are considering.

Juventus

In March, a new opportunity opened up for Greenwood in a different league, with Juventus now linked with taking him to Serie A.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has identified Greenwood as an ideal target due to his age and ability.
After watching his progress from afar this season, the Italian side could now firm up their interest.
And former Man Utd keeper Sergio Romero has predicted the move would be a success, stating: “I’m convinced that Mason would do well in any big team, even Juventus. A Greenwood-Vlahovic-Chiesa trident would be super.”

Kylian Mbappe's transfer offers £86m opportunity to Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal

Real Madrid have put a host of Premier League teams on red alert - with Brazilian winger Rodrygo potentially up for sale.
The Spanish side are set to add to their attacking options this summer with the addition of Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman is move to Spain in the summer on a free transfer once his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires.

His arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu leaves Carlo Ancelotti’s squad looking slightly bloated. Their wage bill will also increase rapidly, with Mbappe set to put pen to paper on an eye-watering deal.
In order to address that, Real Madrid are reportedly willing to cash-in on Rodrygo. According to Spanish outlet Sport, they want to receive around €100million (£86m) for his services.
While they are open to a sale, they are not yet entertaining offers just yet. There is interest in the Premier League from Manchester UnitedLiverpool and Arsenal.
Indeed, Rodrygo’s future with Real Madrid looks slightly uncertain. He has been linked with an exit in the past but claimed he was happy in Spain.
Speaking last year, the 23-year-old said: "I didn't get any offer from Saudi League. I'm not interested about Premier League rumours. To be honest I'm only thinking about playing for Real Madrid, nothing else. I love Real Madrid. It's all perfect here."

The former Santos star has over four years left to run on his deal with Real Madrid. He has scored 13 goals in all competitions this season but Carlo Ancelotti was forced to leap to his defence earlier this year for a perceived lack of goal threat.
The Italian said: "I've been taught that if you tell someone 'think of all the animals except the cat, you think of the cat'. He's playing and contributing. I'll never talk to him about the goals he doesn't score, ever. The important thing is that he contributes, as he is doing.”

While Real Madrid have a decision to make over the future of Rodrygo, they are still yet to formally announce Mbappe’s arrival. The French striker remained tight-lipped on his future on international duty.

"I haven't announced anything yet because I have nothing to announce ... I am sorry I have nothing to tell you," he said, before adding: "I think it will all be sorted out before the Euros."
Elsewhere, PSG boss Luis Enrique was silent when asked about an exit for his star forward. He said: "Mbappe to Real Madrid? I don't know, no one knows. Only Kylian knows. When all parties involved decide to share the truth and their decisions, we will be there to listen."

Aston Villa negotiating with La Liga-winning centre-back as Emery aims to beat Prem rivals to transfer

Aston Villa have reportedly held negotiations with Mario Hermoso over a transfer, as they look to beat other Premier League and Serie A sides to his transfer.
A number of injuries in the defence have meant the makeup of the backline at Villa Park has looked very different at times this season. Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings started together in the heart of the defence in the first game of the season.
Emery’s favoured centre-back pairing from his first season were torn away from each other in the first-half of the opener against Newcastle, though, with a knee injury ending Mings’ season before it ever really began.
Pau Torres then took his place and has performed well, but he’s also been injured this season, and Clement Lenglet has deputised for him.
As such, while there are a number of quality centre-backs at Emery’s disposal, the Spaniard will not want to be burdened by the same issues as this season.
On top of that, he always wants to keep improving – that Villa are fourth after finishing seventh last season highlights the desire for further growth, and more quality could push them even higher.
Some big names are being looked at in each position to facilitate that push.
In the heart of the defence, Atletico Madrid’s Hermoso is reportedly one of the latest targets for Villa.

Villa in talks with Hermoso

That’s according to Marca, who state the Premier League is one of the ‘favourite’ destinations for him to carry on his career, and Villa are said to have ‘held negotiations’ with the defender.
Hermoso won La Liga with Atletico in 2020/21, playing 31 games, 30 of those appearances coming from the start.
The number of appearances he has made per season since then have dropped, and Hermoso will be available on a free transfer in the summer.
It’s said his representatives have ‘moved to find new accommodation’ for him, and that Villa have already held talks seems to be a good sign for them regarding the signing.

Hermoso has more suitors

It’s not only Villa that are interested in the 28-year-old, though.
Serie A is said to be level with the Premier League in terms of the favoured destination, and there is also Saudi interest.
Indeed, Marca states a move to the Saudi Pro League could see Hermoso’s wages doubled.

That would surely be an attractive prospect, but Emery’s project at Villa Park will be as well.
Torres moved from Spain to the Midlands and is having success, and his compatriot could follow that same path and help the former Villarreal manager lead his side even further up the table.

Fábio Carvalho sends Jürgen Klopp message as Liverpool handed daunting fixture schedule

Once the latest and last international break of the season is over we'll enter into the business end of the season, and Liverpool has much to play for going into the final six weeks of the season. Despite the FA Cup defeat to Man United, never an easy pill to swallow for Reds fans, the club is still very much in the hunt for two more trophies, with the Premier League and Europa League very much achievable targets. Here's your round-up of the latest Liverpool news.
Liverpool loanee confirms summer return
Liverpool loanee Fábio Carvalho has scored four goals since joining Hull City on loan. The 21-year-old has confirmed that he intends to return to Merseyside after his time in the Championship ends.
Carvalho signed for Liverpool from Fulham in the summer of 2022 but has struggled to assert himself at Anfield. Last summer, he was sent on loan to Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, however the move didn't work out, and he was returned to Liverpool and then sent to the Yorkshire side in order to gain more minutes.

Speaking to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Carvalho assessed his first season at Liverpool and his future: “It was a bit like my career has been: ups and downs. But I learnt a lot there, with players at a different level. I went to Liverpool because I want to be the best player in the world,” he said.

“And to get there I have to compete every day with the best in the world. I learnt a lot from those players who have so much experience in the Premier League and the Champions League. It’s a very strong group, both on and off the pitch, who have taken me in as one of their own. I’m very grateful to them and to Mr Klopp," added Carvalho. Asked if he plans to return Anfield, Carvalho replied: “Yes, in the pre-season.”
Merseyside Derby kick-off confirmed
Liverpool's second Merseyside Derby of the season with Everton has been confirmed, and it's not likely to make Jürgen Klopp happy. The game was postponed due to Liverpool's participation in the FA Cup, but the Premier League has now rearranged the fixture and is now slated for an April 24 kick-off at 8pm (via The Mirror).
The game is set to be televised live on Sky Sports, and it now sets a very tough week for Klopp and his men, with three away games in a week. Before the away game at Goodison Park, Liverpool face Fulham at Craven Cottage on April 21.
Following the game against the Toffees, Liverpool then travel back down to London to face West Ham in the Saturday morning slot, something which likely won't please the German. It's a six-day period which could make or break Liverpool's season.

Newcastle plot agonising Leeds United raid as journalist rules out swoop for costly duo

Newcastle United will not be able to spend vast amounts on a new defender to cover for long-term injury victim Sven Botman this summer with moves for both Antonio Silva and Leny Yoro ruled out – but they do reportedly have a flourising Leeds star in their sights instead.
Eddie Howe’s side have struggled to match their own high standards of last season when Newcastle finished fourth in the Premier League to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years. This time around, the Magpies find themselves way off the pace and are currently 10th in the Premier League, having already lost 10 of their 28 matches played so far.

While the club will continue trying to finish as high up as possible – and they remain only four points adrift of West Ham in seventh, the position usually regarded as the cut-off point for European qualification – their efforts have been seriously undermined by a worrying spate of injuries that have blighted their season to this point.
And with number one goalkeeper Nick Pope sidelined by a shoulder issue and with big-money summer signing Harvey Barnes only recently recovering from a long-standing foot injury, their woes have now escalated after seeing classy centre-half Botman suffer a tear to his ACL in their FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester City last weekend.

As a result, Newcastle are likely to be without their star defender for not just the remainder of this season, but also the opening months of the 2024/25 campaign, with his lay-off anticipated to be anywhere between six to nine months.

Newcastle target Leny Yoro set for Real Madrid

The agonising loss of the 24-year-old Dutch defender leaves Howe with another huge absence to fill, and the position is now said to have become of paramount importance ahead of the summer window.
To that end, they have already been linked with a number of high-profile arrivals to fill the void as the club looks to bring in a top-class replacement.
Two of those linked are considered two of the best young defenders in the world game, with Benfica defender Silva and Yoro of Lille both reportedly in Howe’s sights.
However, both come with lofty price tags with Silva’s Benfica exit clause set at €100m and Lille rating 18-year-old old Yoro at at least €60m.
As a result, journalist Graeme Bailey has explained why neither move will go through.
“The best young one in Europe for me is Antonio Silva,” he told Geordie Boot Boys.
“But I don’t think Newcastle are in the market for him. He’s a bit too far. He’s like a Rolls Royce, that boy!”

Bailed added: “Leny Yoro as well, I think he’s out of Newcastle’s range too, because he’ll probably go to Real Madrid.”

Newcastle could turn to Leeds loanee Joe Rodon

However, the Magpies are in the market for a new defender and one cut-price option who is reportedly now under strong consideration is Leeds United loanee defender Joe Rodon.
The Wales international has enjoyed a stunning season with Leeds, who have overhauled Leicester’s 17-point lead at the Championship summit to thrust themselves firmly into the automatic promotion mix.
The Whites have won 12 of their 13 games in the Championship since the turn of the year, with Rodon establishing himself as one of the first names on their teamsheet and with Leeds having only conceding three league goals in 2024.
Incredibly, none of those concessions has come from open play, with Rodon’s form earning him plenty of admirers as a result.
TEAMtalk revealed earlier this month that the player is keen to make his loan move from Tottenham permanent this summer and is strongly keen to make the move to Elland Road a long term one and regardless of what division Leeds find themselves in next season.

Indeed, that move will almost certainly go through and for a fee of around £12m to £15m if Leeds to secure their return to the English elite. To that end, Tottenham will not stand in Rodon’s way having made it clear he does not have a future in north London under Ange Postecoglou.
However, any failure to seal promotion will see Leeds exposed to potentially missing out on his signing, with Newcastle’s status as a Premier League giving them a significant advantage over the Whites in the battle for his signature.

Wales star happy at Leeds and hints at permanent move

As it stands, the 26-year-old’s immediate goal is to help his nation qualify for Euro 2024, where they face a play-off final clash against Poland on Tuesday to determine their fate.
After that game is done, Rodon will return to Leeds and aim to help see them over the finish line in the hunt for promotion. They return to action on Good Friday with a match against Watford at Vicarage Road.

While giving little away on his future, he has admitted he’s very much enjoyed his time at Leeds, where he played more games in one season than at any other time in his career.

“Over the last couple of years it’s been sticky and I’ve not had the game time I’ve wanted,” he said this week.
“But I settled in quickly and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve been playing every week and that’s only going to give you more confidence.
“I’m in a really good place physically and mentally. But it’s not just at Leeds (where Wales trio Connor Roberts, Daniel James and Ethan Ampadu are teammates), most of the players are players are playing regularly. For Wales that’s really important and maybe the first time we’ve had that for a while. It’s only going to help.”
Rodon’s Tottenham deal is due to expire in summer 2025.
