Pulp Fiction
Several stories straight from the old-style cinema, fit together into one whole. Two not very bright gangsters, Jules and Vincent. receives an order from an influential boss. They are to recover his suitcase. A task that was supposed to be simple, like building a flail, turns out to be extremely difficult. Meanwhile, Marsellus Wallace, the owner of the suitcase, is betting on a boxing fight. It won't be a fair fight because he previously paid one of the fighters a large sum to lose the match.
But the fight isn’t going like it was supposed to be...
While Wallace is betting, his wife is given to Vincent for care. They are supposed to spend one seemingly nice evening together.
Watching Quenteen’s Tarantino’s directed movies, its not about the question if you like the movie, its the question if you are keen on the whole art made by him.
What is as important as the plot in "Pulp Fiction" is the acting. In almost every film, the director allows an actor whose best years are behind him, as well as an actor whose star is ready to shine, to appear. It's no different here. There is probably no need to praise the acting, just look at the names at the beginning of the film and you immediately know that we are not dealing with amateurs.
When it comes to the dialogues themselves, I have never seen such brilliant dialogues in any film as here, and there are plenty of them. Funny, full of vulgarisms and exchanges between the main characters that really mean nothing.
The soundtrack is undoubtedly also an asset of the film.
Classic hits of the 80s and 90s dominate here, perfectly creating the atmosphere typical of Quentin's films. "Pulp Fiction" includes hits such as "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" covered by Urge Overkill, "Son of a Preacher Man" by Dusty Springfield and "Jungle Boogie" from the repertoire of Kool and the Gang. However, the most famous one is probably the main theme, which is a real mixture of different musical genres. This is a rock'n'roll version of the popular Greek song "Misirlou" performed by Dick Dale & His Deltones.
Fast, catchy and so characteristic that if you hear it even once, it cannot be confused with any other song. A really great song.
