Building on hype is just hyping, not building

You can hype your project as much as you want, but if your project doesn't have a "why", you don't really have a project. Simple as that.

I mean you can't seriously be surprised if you hype something as the next big thing since peanut butter, and when it’s showtime, you underdeliver. Did you think otherwise, you lunatic?
As a disclaimer, I think is important to mention, that there are 2 types of people who build on hype:

  • The ones that know exactly what they are doing - wink, wink, rug-pull loading
  • The ones that are ingenuous, and see crypto as a lottery.

This text is dedicated to the second type.

Perhaps, in your mind, it’s all fun and games, and somehow - result of skill, investment, or luck ( I don’t like to attribute success to the luck factor) - you can gain some traction in the initial stages of your project. Nice! But do you have a project or a vision?
Because this will be a determinant factor for the next steps that you will be taking. If you have a functional project, that solves a problem or brings joy to the user, “all ist gut” - Hype the f* out of it, as far as we know it can be indeed the next “big thing” in the space.
If not…yikes! You done f*cked up!

Why? Because your project is just built on hype! Which means is nothing else than air! Is nothing; poof; it’s just fugi-fugazi ( Matt McConaughey “Wolf of the Wall Street” vibes)

The lack of Substance will eventually push users away
You have nothing going on. As humans, we crave substance and meaningful experiences. Is innate to us. You cannot fake love, hate, or any other emotion. When we do something, we need to feel something, if you cannot provide that, you won’t convince me to be on your side. Maybe I can check your website (probs won’t be connecting my wallet though), and see what’s happening around there, until the realization point, that there is nothing going on because your project has no essence for me to stick around.

No loyal project equals no loyal customers
There are 1,000,000 projects like yours. Solely build on hype. Do you think I will stay around for a long? I mean you know what you are building, so you know what kind of “follower” you are attracting. You reap what you sow basically.
- Look…uhhh…don’t expect me to stay around much longer. I heard that “MonkeySpacyVibyJungle” is trendy now. So yeah… It’s not you, is me…But I am not looking for a commitment or anything serious right now…Was cool though.”

If the market shifts, so do we
You fail to deliver trust. In this space, we look like monkeys, jumping from branch to branch. Why? Maybe because the tree branch where we sit, seems fragile, and doesn’t inspire confidence. And as far as I am concerned, the next tree looks safer, and I see a lot of monkeys going there. Hype is influenced by market trends, fads, or external factors. What happens when the hype is gone? Well…so are we. As soon as the market shifts, since you fail to deliver product-wise, definitely us, the user will not feel safe, and we will make sure to bring the liquidity provided with us.

The bigger the raise, the bigger the fall
It’s not sustainable bro, because you cannot keep up with the expectations.
- Wow! Your project is growing so faaaast! Are you some kind of guru or something? What is the use case after all? I mean yes, it’s cool, you have 100K followers and 20K connected wallets…but what does it do? Ah…Interactive buttons, and a nice aesthetics. Cool, cool.” Remember that if you can have an insane boost in popularity, you can also feel a rapid decline.

So, in a nutshell, don’t build on hype. Build a product instead. The hype will come organically.
