Competition is underway and the waves are firing!

The swell has arrived and conditions were perfect for competition to get going over night last night and into today.
we saw a perfect 10 from South African Matthew McGillvray, plus some near perfect scores from the one and only Kelly Slater, plus a few other of the top surfers in the World.
Current World No.1 Filipe Toledo from Brazil was an early casualty getting knocked out early in around 2, as was Aussie World No.2 & 3, Jack Robinson & Ethan Ewing, both bowing out in the 3rd Round - leaving a number of potential winners, but none more than Kelly Slater who has won here 5 times and would undoubtedly be the guy to beat.
on the Women's side of Competition, they ran a couple of rounds the previous day, with Aussie Steph Gilmore surfing really good and Hawaiian Carissa Moore looking good also.
Hopefully the large perfect conditions remain for a couple more days.
