Nilesh was very confused, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. The mark sheet was lying in front of him, in which he had got the highest marks in every subject but he was not able to get the happiness that comes with getting good marks.

After all, why was this happening to Nilesh… What happened to Nilesh?

Actually, both Nilesh and Kamal studied in the same class. But there was a lot of difference in the nature of both. While Kamal was of a calm nature, Nilesh always had some mischief in mind. He was not interested in studies. Whereas Kamal was first in studies. He used to answer every question of the teacher immediately. Nilesh was facing the same problem. Instead of concentrating on his studies, his job was to copy all the activities of Kamal. How to push him back and humiliate him, he was always busy in this dilemma. Amidst all this, its worst impact was on his own studies.

Similarly, once during lunch time, when Kamal went out of the class for a while, Nilesh stole a copy of Science from his school bag. So that when the teacher asks him something, he is not in a position to answer. Same thing happened and Kamal got scolded a lot by the teacher. Nilesh was smiling softly.

All the time Nilesh was on the lookout for an opportunity to trouble Kamal. In a way, he was also becoming a victim of inferiority complex because of Kamal. He felt that he would never be able to study. Sometimes Kamal's pen would disappear and sometimes there would be no food left in the lunch box. He felt very happy seeing Kamal in trouble. Gradually both his mischief and inferiority complex started increasing. He also became friends with other miscreant boys in the class who used to tease him all the time.

Nilesh had a friend, Ritika, whom he believed in everything. Ritika was feeling very distressed after seeing Nilesh's actions, she tried a lot to make him understand, but he was so victim of inferiority complex that he was unable to come out.

Soon the exams came closer. Nilesh tried his best that this time he would not allow Kamal to get the first rank. Suddenly he got some flying news. Some of his unruly friends stole the exam papers and gave them to Nilesh. There was no limit to Nilesh's happiness. Now this time he will definitely come first. The examinations were over and after a few days the results also came. He was the topper in his class. He looked at Kamal with a victorious smile. Today he had left Kamal behind. Kamal was a little disappointed with his low marks but he was not defeated. She congratulated Nilesh on his success and hugged him.

Nilesh was confused as to what to do or not to do, whether to cry over his own nature or be happy over Kamal's goodness. The boy whom he had given nothing but trouble, was today congratulating him on his success. Within a moment, his joy of victory evaporated and his exploits appeared before him like a mirror.

Now he was feeling very ashamed of the rank he had obtained dishonestly, even the good marks in front of him were making him realize his mistakes again and again. Tears of embarrassment started flowing from the corners of his eyes and he started thinking of an opportunity to correct his mistakes. He made up his mind that he would apologize to Kamal for his past mistakes and also confess his theft to the teacher, even if he had to leave the school.

Then Sir called, “Nilesh, come here, you have got first rank in your class, I am very happy with you, tell me how you achieved this success?”

Nilesh was very confused, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. Sampaper had the mark sheet in which he had got the highest marks in every subject but he was not able to get the happiness that comes with getting good marks.

Nilesh reached in front of the black board with slow steps ;

Sir, the first rank is not mine but Kamal's, I apologize to all of you... I have cheated, I had got the paper out to humiliate Kamal.

Sir, you can give me whatever punishment you want for this. Kamal, I am really sorry! I always kept troubling you but today you hugged me and congratulated me.”

And while saying this, Nilesh had tears in his eyes.

Everyone got emotional seeing the most mischievous child of the class breaking down like this, Ritika and Kamal immediately reached him and held his hand.

The school management also did not let Nilesh's repentance go in vain and re-examined him and passed it.

Now Nilesh had understood that success achieved through dishonesty can never give happiness, real happiness can be achieved only by following the path of honesty and truth.

THE END !
