Shapella upgrade
After a smooth transition on Goerli, the development team is already planning the mainnet upgrade of Shapella. Consensus was quickly reached and specifically the Shapella network will be upgraded on the Ethereum network at epoch 194048, expected at 22:27:35 UTC April 12 (ie 5:27:35 Vietnam time) on April 13 is coming. So what information do you need to keep in mind before upgrading Shapella? This upgrade follows The Merge and allows validators to withdraw their contributions from the Beacon Chain back to the execution layer. Additionally, this upgrade also introduces new features for both the execution and consensus layers, described below.
What is Shapella? Shapella Ethereum upgrade is the process of updating and incorporating new changes in the execution layer (Shanghai), consensus layer (Capella), and Engine API on the Ethereum network. This upgrade is expected to take place at epoch 194048, on April 12, 2023. The Shapella Ethereum upgrade will help improve network performance and security, as well as introduce new features for applications developed on the Ethereum platform. After the Shapella Ethereum upgrade, ETH users will be allowed to withdraw their contributions as validators. Before implementing Proof of Stake, users could contribute 32 ETH to become network validators, but this amount would be locked forever. This will help increase flexibility and attract more new users to the Ethereum network.
