THE HUSTLE FOR SAFETY.

This right here is the descendant of perdition that almost chased the living day light out of us today. The hustle for safety was real as the threat was more imminent than real; sharp, strong teeth of death were danger close, and the heels of the fleeing humans were almost defying the laws of physics as they dash for safety.

Here is what happened.

I was part of a team that went out to check an apartment for possible rent. We came to a neighbourhood where there were two gates possibly sharing a fence. The warning on one of the gates reads “beware of dogs”, a warning whose bluff we called and laughed as we made our way to one of the gates. We knocked.

We knocked and sent a “hello” to the compound. It must have been our third knock that drew the attention of the heartless assassin from hell. Upon my over-one-decade of knowing dogs, the unfriendly bark that came from the compound accompanied by the emergence of a very hostile dog very close to the gate was not familiar. We did not need to see the dog very well to identify the ungodly specie it belongs to before we leapt to safety.

We were four in number. The only lady in the team and one of the guys already fled before the first bark from the dog expired from the air. Upon sighting the demon dog, I turned to walk away but my legs betrayed my confidence. I ran. I would run and stop to walk, yes I’m a boss like my nigga Rozay. I get dogs for house wey I comot from, so why I go run from dog. Kai, my legs been no gree, I run oh.

My mind was saying, “don’t run, Munife; Munife, don’t run”.

E still no work. It was the only Daniel in our group that did not run. He was later heard saying that since he did not make noise or run, the dog would not confront him. Lie-ye!!!! The dog never made it out of the gate. As divine intervention would have it, the gate was locked and we had to migrate to safety because some demons in animal form can jump tall walls.

I saw the dog very well. It was a big, unfriendly Rotweiller.
