Well , the WSL Finals have been run and won in pretty ordinary conditions at Trestles, Southern California.

In the Mens Division, Italo Fierra from Brazil, knocked out both Australian surfers to come up against fellow Brazilian, Filipe Toledo - with Filipe winning and getting his 3rd World Title. The conditions definitely suited the Brazilian surfers where the size and power was very much like home.

In the Womens Division,  Aussie Steph Gilmore, from Coolangatta, came from behind to take out the World Title, winning a record 8th time. She had been fixed on 7 title for quite a few years, equal to fellow Australian Layne Beachley, from Manly.

Its a shame that Australian surfers, Jack Robertson & Ethan Ewing we’re both knocked out, but they both suit bigger more powerful waves.

Absolutely. I would have to agree with you. Australia has been rather fortunate having an amazing number of elite surfers. Catching up to the GOAT Kelly Slater. Will Steph get to 10
