Timo Werner

Timo Werner is a German professional footballer known for his role as a forward for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, where he is currently on loan from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. Additionally, he represents the Germany national team.
Werner's senior club career began in 2013 when he debuted for VfB Stuttgart, becoming both the youngest debutant and youngest goalscorer for the club. In 2016, he made a move to RB Leipzig at the age of 20, for a then club-record transfer fee of 10 million.

During his time with Leipzig, Werner achieved several milestones, including becoming the youngest player to reach 150 and 200 appearances in the Bundesliga. He also finished as the league's second-highest goalscorer in the 2019–20 season. After establishing himself as Leipzig's all-time leading goalscorer, Werner transferred to Chelsea in 2020 for a reported fee of €50 million, where he won the UEFA Champions League in his debut season. Subsequently, in August 2022, he returned to RB Leipzig for a reported fee of 25.3 million.
On the international stage, Werner has been a prolific goalscorer for Germany, starting from his youth career. He has scored 34 goals in 48 appearances across various age group levels for Germany. Werner made his senior debut for the national team in 2017 and played a crucial role in Germany's victory at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, earning the Golden Boot as the tournament's top goalscorer. Timo Werner made a significant move to RB Leipzig, agreeing to a four-year contract for a reported fee of €10 million, the highest transfer fee in the club's history at the time. He quickly made an impact, becoming the youngest player to reach 100 Bundesliga matches at the age of 20 years and 203 days on 26 September 2016. This achievement broke the record previously held by Julian Draxler, although he was later surpassed by Kai Havertz in 2019.

During the 2016–17 Bundesliga season, Werner emerged as a prolific goalscorer, netting 21 goals and becoming the leading German goalscorer in the division. In his final match for RB Leipzig on 27 June 2020, Werner bid farewell in style by scoring both goals in a 2–1 victory over Augsburg. With a total of 95 goals for the club, he departed as RB Leipzig's all-time leading goalscorer, surpassing Daniel Frahn's record.
On 18 June 2020, Timo Werner made a significant move to the English Premier League club Chelsea, after they activated his £47.5 million release clause, signing him to a five-year contract. He officially joined the club on 1 July of the same year. Werner made his Premier League debut for Chelsea on 14 September, contributing to a 3–1 away victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.

His first goal for Chelsea came on 29 September in the EFL Cup fourth-round match against Tottenham Hotspur, although Chelsea ultimately lost on penalties. Werner's first Premier League goals arrived on 17 October, as he scored a brace and provided an assist in a 3–3 draw against Southampton at Stamford Bridge. He also opened his Champions League account for Chelsea with a penalty against Krasnodar on 28 October.
In the 2020–21 season, Werner continued to find the net, breaking a 14-game goal drought in the Premier League with a goal against Newcastle United on 15 February 2021. He played a crucial role in Chelsea's journey to the Champions League final, scoring a pivotal goal against Real Madrid in the semi-finals. The following season, Werner started on a high note by featuring in Chelsea's UEFA Super Cup victory against Villarreal on 11 August 2021, where they won on penalties. He continued to score important goals for Chelsea, including a strike in the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa and his first Premier League goal of the season against Southampton. Werner also etched his name in Chelsea's history by scoring the fastest goal in their Champions League history, just 82 seconds into a match against Zenit Saint Petersburg on 8 December 2021.
Despite his contributions, Chelsea faced disappointment in the Champions League quarter-finals against Real Madrid on 12 April 2022. Werner scored the third goal for Chelsea, but Real Madrid eventually secured a place in the semi-finals with a 5–4 aggregate victory.
