How to overcome stagnation; A love Letter on Change.

Dear You,
The subtle realisation that you haven't touched up to 50% of your talent, not to talk of utilising it, is quite humbling. I call it a subtle realisation because it comes at you slow. A gentle awakening to the prospect of you living an unfulfilled life despite any appearance to the contrary. It is a harsh truth, a bitter one too, that the earlier you accept, the better for you.

As with all things that involve change, acceptance of the current situation of things is usually the first step but afterwards what next?
Change is something a lot of people fear and well, not knowing what is coming at you can be scary, in all honesty. Regardless, it is something that must happen for progress to occur in your life.

So back to the question, what next?
This part is tricky and I sure am not coming from the viewpoint of someone who has achieved soo much (because I haven't, barely scratched the surface even) but I will tell you this, start from the known.

What is the known? The things you are aware of, the things you know you can do. How much progress has doing what you know gotten you in life? Are you even doing it? What are the different ways you have experimented with this knowledge? How grounded are you in your field?

Do some research.

Answering these questions and seeking answers would give you an insight on where you currently stand and you can work from there. Yes, WORK.
You need to put in work. There literally is no way to romantize or sugar coat that word, Work.

When motivational speakers and mentors say "You need to put in the work", they tell no lies. There's also a popular quote that says
"The life that you want is on the other side of your discipline "
Recently I heard someone paraphrase it to "other side of your consistency " and today I'm paraphrasing it to "other side of your Laziness ". Because truth be told, sometimes we are just outrightly lazy to do anything and that's why we sit on talents, shy away from showing up, are inconsistent and are stuck behind our phone screens watching other people live the lives that we dream of.

Laziness comes with comfort. Being too comfortable in your current situation births mediocrity and short-sightedness. Don't get it twisted, contentment is a beautiful virtue to uphold but you can't be feigning contentment when you have not achieved atleast 10% of the life you envision for yourself and there's someone out there who doesn't even have a quatre of what you have but is achieving 80% of the things you are supposed to.

I started this letter without a clear idea on the direction it was supposed to take but I started typing anyways because I've come to realise that my best moments, post and writings are done unfiltered and without overthinking. Another day I will talk about overthinking but today, we'll just focus on you getting your life together by harnessing every single talent that you have. Start with that idea, that post, pick up that skill, learn, research and like Nike says, JUST DO IT. You never know how far you can go with it, you never know how far it can take you, until you try ofcourse. So embrace the change.

P.S: I'm equally just winging it and trying to figure out stuff on my own. Forgive me for my harsh tone😅. We got this though. I'm rooting for you.

Love,
M.Noire
