dYmension protocol
dYmension is a multi-layer protocol built to serve high-performance blockchains called RollApps (aka application-specific aggregations/modular execution environments).
dYmension allows anyone to create and deploy their own blockchain, a RollApp instance on top of dYmension’s settlement layer.
The dYmension settlement layer, also called dYmension Hub, is the protocol base layer. dYmension Hub is a Proof of Stake (PoS) neutral blockchain that provides utility, security and liquidity for RollApps.
For clarity, a RollApp is an application-specific aggregation. Unlike dApps, which are based on general-purpose aggregations, applications built as RollApps have their own autonomy. Developers can use dYmension’s RollApp Development Kit (RDK) to develop a RollApp.

dYmension’s blockchain platform is a modular settlement layer that provides all the tools and infrastructure needed to easily launch Rollapps as part of the Cosmos ecosystem. It is a new dimension of decentralized use cases.
Why dYmension
1-Sequential Network
dYmension is a permissionless network of RollApps. Deploying RollApps means easily connecting to 2-row network effects because RollApps can easily create connectivity not only with each other but also with the entire IBC-enabled ecosystem via dYmension Hub.
2-Easy to Deploy
Building a blockchain with dYmension does not come with the burden of pre-installing a network. Because developers adopt a decentralized, permissionless and trust-minimized version of the blockchain, they can easily deploy a blockchain as if they were running their own isolated application instances.
3-RollApp feature
Rollapps are independent, meaning that Rollapps set their own economic and decentralization parameters.
4-Performance Difference
Unlike dApps on general-purpose blockchains such as Ethereum, which require users to pay gas fees in the network’s coin (i.e. ETH, etc.), RollApp pays end-user transaction fees with the app’s native token or any other token chosen by RollApp (e.g. stablecoins). They will also be able to pay with other IBC-enabled tokens or a completely new token for fee collection.

Common RollApp implementations are clogged by generic base layers that were not designed with RollApps in mind.
dYmension’s solution dramatically increases scale and maximizes gas efficiency by embedding RollApp logic at the protocol level and accepting only basic transports and RollApp-related transactions.

dYmension provides all the tools and infrastructure needed to easily create, launch and run a standalone RollApp that is interconnected with other RollApps. Using the dYmension RollApp Development Kit (RDK), developers can focus on their business logic needs.
