"Gout" is a disease with a long history, but only in ancient times. It often produces severe pain when it attacks. Generally, the pain will disappear if it is controlled in time in the acute phase.

Its incidence rate is not high, and it is mostly dominated by princes and nobles, so gout is also called wealthy disease and imperial disease!

According to clinical statistics, the number of known gout patients in Europe and America has reached nearly million people, from the elderly, down to children, can be affected!

However, many people have gout not once or twice, but repeatedly, which makes the patient very uncomfortable .

How does gout come about?

In fact, gout is not a single disease, but a product of a certain level of uric acid.

There is close correlation between gout attacks and hyperuricemia. Under normal circumstances, the body's daily production and metabolism of uric acid is in a dynamic balance.

When this balance is broken, uric acid will continue to accumulate in the body and develop hyperuricemia . Continuously increasing uric acid will precipitate urate crystals and deposit in the patient’s joints, leading to gout!

When gout first strikes, it is mainly caused by severe joint pain and redness. As the condition continues to develop, gout attacks will become more frequent and pain will gradually increase.

Gout entering the chronic phase can also induce multiple complications such as tophi, chronic arthritis, uric acid stones, gouty nephritis , and even cause joint deformities and block activities !

What we have to do is not to try to cure it, but to prevent it before it happens.

For gout, we must persist in the following four things:

1. Drink plenty of water

As mentioned above, the body's daily production and metabolism of uric acid are directly proportional, and the metabolism of uric acid mainly depends on the kidneys! When the kidneys produce urine, uric acid will be excreted with urine.

If you drink too little water at ordinary times, the kidneys' ability to produce urine will be reduced and the metabolism of uric acid will be blocked. Therefore, it is scientifically recommended that the daily drinking volume of adults should be maintained at about 1500-2500ml.

If hyperuricemia has occurred, the amount of water can be added appropriately on this basis to ensure that the frequency of urination increases.

2. Stay away from high-purine foods

There is a close relationship between diet and hyperuricemia, especially foods with high purine content, such as animal offal, seafood, red meat, etc., are typical representatives.

Although eating three to five times apart will not affect the balance of uric acid, long-term intake of large amounts of purine-containing foods will cause the continuous production and accumulation of uric acid in the body, which will induce hyperuricemia and increase the risk of gout.

Therefore, friends with metabolic diseases should try to reduce the frequency of consumption, and achieve a balanced and reasonable diet every day.

3. Wine

Clinically, nearly 60% of patients with acute gout have a sudden attack of gout after a heavy drinking.

Alcoholic beverages do not seem to have high purines, but in fact beer, rice wine, etc. all contain excessive purines. Moreover, when alcohol is metabolized and decomposed by the liver, a certain amount of lactic acid is produced, which inhibits the normal excretion and metabolism of uric acid, leading to a further increase in uric acid.

Therefore, no matter whether there is gout or not, whether there is metabolic disease or not, for the sake of health, you should give up alcohol as soon as possible and stay away from alcohol.

4. Exercise must not be less

When gout first attacks, it will mostly appear on the joints with weak skin, especially the big toe. This is mainly because the joints with weak skin are covered and the local temperature is relatively low, which is more suitable for the accumulation of urate crystals. But this situation is not inevitable.

Through scientific exercise, we can improve blood circulation, increase local temperature and dilate blood vessels. At this time, urate crystals are not easy to deposit in joints. As exercise volume and metabolism increase, uric acid will also be excreted by the body.

Therefore, proper exercise can also help prevent the occurrence of gout.

One thing to remind everyone is that even if you have hyperuricemia, you can still improve your life and diet to relieve it.

However, for patients with frequent attacks of gout, it is not enough to rely solely on dietary adjustments. It is necessary to actively cooperate with doctors to take painkillers and uric acid drugs to relieve symptoms and discomfort.
