La Liga also known as the Primera División, is the top professional football division of the Spanish football league system. It is considered one of the top five professional football leagues in Europe and is home to some of the most successful and popular football clubs in the world, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid.

History:

The league was founded in 1929 and has been contested annually since. The league is composed of 20 teams, who play each other twice (once at home and once away) for a total of 38 matches per season. The team with the most points at the end of the season is declared the champion, and the teams that finish in the bottom three places are relegated to the second division, known as the Segunda División.
La Liga has a rich history and has been home to some of the greatest football players and teams of all time. Real Madrid and Barcelona are considered the two most successful teams in the league's history, with both teams winning the league title over 30 times each. Some of the greatest players to have played in La Liga include Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Alfredo Di Stéfano, and Diego Maradona.

The 2020-2021 season, which was the 91st season of the league, was won by Atlético Madrid, which was their eleventh league title.

The league has a rich history and continues to be one of the most exciting and competitive leagues in the world of football. With a number of talented players and teams, La Liga promises to provide a lot of entertainment and drama in the future seasons.

La Liga this season:

In this season 2022/23, also as usual 20 clubs are competing for this title whereas Barcelona and real madrid are most favourites to win. As of today (1/17/2023) , already 16/17 matches have only been played and Barcelona is on the top with 41 points while real madrid with 38 points. So, this means yet each are left with 20-21 games to be played.


By stats this season, Robert Lewondowski (Barcelona) has netted most goals (13), Mikel Merino (real sociedad) with most assists (7). Most elite players in this season will probably be Benzema , Lewondowski, Vini, Gavi, Pedri and so on.

Final Thoughts:

La Liga is one of the most hardest league where 20 clubs go for title, it takes 38 matches for each team. Many great players have played for it. Most of the players from this league have won ballondor's and most successful team in UCL are mostly from this leaue. So, it's one of the best league in Europe.
