You know, there are some cities, your trip is over, you return home, but you can't get out of your mind, you want to go back again and again. St. Petersburg is one of them. Do not think that it is only because of the beautiful women of the city. The canals, buildings, palaces, palaces, streets and parks of the city are beautiful. It is impossible not to be impressed by the fact that the Russian tsars built such a beautiful city on a flat, unnaturally beautiful geography that used to be a swamp.

Located on the Neva River on the Baltic Sea coast, St. Petersburg is Russia's second largest city after Moscow with a population of nearly 5 million. It is a city of canals just like Venice. It was founded in 1703 by Tsar Peter I, whom we call Peter the Mad, with the aim of making it a beautiful city to rival the leading cities of Europe. And it was very successful. The architecture and buildings of St. Petersburg, which was the capital of the Russian Empire for 200 years, are so impressive and some of them are so magnificent that it seems as if the Russian tsars and queens did not feed the people but invested all their money in buildings.

St. Petersburg is a Western European city not only in terms of architecture but also in terms of its general appearance and lifestyle. There are more than 200 museums in the city. The streets are spotlessly clean. You cannot even see a cigarette butt on the streets. Sidewalks and landscaping are very beautiful. They did not spoil the facades of the buildings in order to enlarge the showcases of the shops in historical buildings. They did not pollute the view with signboards. There are neither skyscrapers nor ugly and high-rise apartment buildings in the city centre. Cars stop as soon as you step on the pedestrian crossing.

Russian people are not cold people as we think. OK, they are not as friendly as we are, but like all the northern peoples, when you start talking to them, they start smiling. There are not many people who speak English. Also, the female population is much more in the city. There are very few men and almost none of them are handsome. On the contrary, women are very beautiful, well-groomed and attractive. Maybe women will be angry, but it is very pleasant to be a man in St. Petersburg! 🙂

NEVSKI
This is the main street of the city. Nevski Prospekt in Russian. It is also frequently mentioned in Dostoevsky's novels. If you have read it, you may be familiar with the name. Many tourist attractions in the city are located on or near this street. There are also many cafes and restaurants along the street, as well as shops of world-famous brands.
CHURCH OF SPILT BLOOD

Located on the Griboyedov Canal, which cuts Nevsky Street perpendicular to the Kazan Cathedral, this church was built between 1883 and 1907.The church was so named because it was built on the site of the assassination of the Russian emperor Alexander II in 1881.
PALACE SQUARE

Located at the Neva River end of Nevsky Boulevard, this huge square is considered to be the main square of the city. On one side of Palace Square is the magnificent blue-coloured Winter Palace, the official residence of the Russian tsars from 1732 to 1917, and on the other side is the 580-metre-long, arc-shaped yellow building, which was used as the General Staff Headquarters until 1918.In the centre of the square is the Alexander Column, named after Alexander I, who won the victory over Napoleon. The square was the scene of important historical events such as Bloody Sunday in 1905 and the October Revolution in 1917. World famous names such as Madonna, Shakira, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Duran Duran have given concerts in this square.
