Let's discuss love and relationships today. What does love mean to you? There are so many myths that are spreading about what love is and what love isn't. Recently, I learnt quite a few facts about the issue and I want to share it here with you guys.

Some people have been hurt by others in the name of love and have brought up different reasons why things are the way they are. Here are some common myths that are not true about love:

Love is a feeling
Love isn't just a feeling. It's a commitment you make to someone to be there through thick and thin. If we all left it to feelings, I guess we'll find ourselves loving a lot of people because at one point or the other, you have feelings for different persons.

Love at first sight
I hear this very often. I am of the opinion that this is not true. I believe that meeting someone for the first time, what we feel is an intense attraction. I will not say it is love. Something about them that stood out for you. And example is this, you enter a boutique and see a very nice dress, at first glance you really love it and want it. But then you see the price tag and realize it's way out of your budget. When you get to know someone, you may realize this isn't what you wanted.

Sex is the ultimate proof of love
This is for those that are carried away by the idea that sex is the only way to prove their love. You'll hear such people say if you love me, you'll sleep with me. Consider people that engage in casual sex, does it mean they love these people? Certainly not. Don't be deceived! If they see sex as the only way to proof you love them- run! It's not worth you having a heartbreak over.

Money and material things can buy love
Hahahaha! Let's be sincere to ourselves. Yes, money can get someone to pay attention to you. The fact that you offer gifts to them can make them hang around you. But don't miss the point here, they're only around for the money. What happens when all of that is gone? The so acclaimed love goes with it and you're cast aside. They're there for the material things they can gain from you. Please walk away.

You don't choose who you love, love chooses you.
I disagree with this. Let's be realistic, at one point or the other you've been attracted to people, people you considered going into a relationship with. But for some reason, you didn't push through with it. You come across someone that you want to be in your life, that you really want things to work out with and you tell yourself that it's worth it. You're making a commitment to that person! You chose them. Why didn't it work with the others? The truth is that it isn't what you wanted!
