The Next Great Filmmaker Might Not Own a Camera

What if the next great filmmaker doesn’t own a camera?

What if they don’t have a Hollywood studio, a massive production crew, expensive lighting equipment, or millions of naira to bring their imagination to life?

What if all they have is a powerful idea, a laptop or smartphone, and the courage to create?
That is the strange and exciting reality we are moving toward.

Artificial intelligence is changing the way stories are imagined, written, visualised, produced, edited, and shared. A single creator can now develop characters, generate cinematic environments, experiment with visual styles, create music, produce concept art, and even turn a simple sentence into an entire visual sequence.

But here’s the part that interests me most: AI is not replacing imagination—it is giving imagination a bigger canvas.

For creators like me, AI is more than a technology trend. It is becoming another creative instrument.

The camera used to capture the vision. Today, the vision can sometimes create the camera.

And this raises a bigger question:

If technology removes the expensive barriers to creativity, what will you create when your only real limitation is your imagination?
