Carpe Diem: A lesson on productivity
When popular Nigerian Artiste, Olamide released his album "Carpe Diem" in 2020, I never bothered to know what the meaning was, I just felt it was something similar to the Spanish phrase "La vida Loca" which meant "The Crazy life".
Not until I came across a very interesting video early this year by Nana Adu-Sarfo, popular known as BOZ, who is the Head of music marketing in Apple music and Beats by Dre. She's also one of the exceptional black women in our times.
In the video she talked about the phrase "Carpe Diem " which happens to be a Latin phrase meaning "Sieze the day" , she went further to explain that it was just part of a longer phrase which was
"Carpe Diem, quam minimum credula postero" and it means, "Sieze the day, and put as little trust as possible in tomorrow ".
Learning what that phrase truly meant in full gave me a vivid understanding on what life was all about. Living in the moment.
You have to wake up each day and give it your best. Trying out every opportunity, utilising every skill, learning all that you can and doing it like you weren't sure of tomorrow because you really are not.
The future is determinant on your efforts of today, so what are you doing to sieze the day?
