Jos M@ssacre: Protests Erupt in Plateau as Residents Reject Curfew After Palm Sunday Att@ck

Hundreds of residents in Plateau State took to the streets on Monday morning, defying a state-imposed curfew, to protest the d+adly Palm Sunday attack in Jos North Local Government Area. The demonstration occurred at the scene of the mass@cre in Anguwan Rukuba and was streamed live on TikTok.

Protesters, visibly angry, demanded urgent government action, insisting that a curfew was not an effective response to repeated k+llings. “People are outside because of the att@ck that happened yesterday. They chased the security men because they are not doing any help right here,” said one resident. Another eyewitness described the att@ck as sudden and d+adly, noting that g+nmen fired indiscriminately around 7–8 p.m. in a busy market area, forcing residents to flee.

Demonstrators accused authorities of failing to prevent repeated att@cks and criticized the curfew as “unnecessary” and “ineffective.” Police later moved in to disperse the crowd, reportedly chasing protesters and preparing to fire tear gas.

The protest followed Sunday evening’s att@ck, when g+nmen dressed in military uniforms stormed Anguwan Rukuba, opening f+re on residents and leaving many d+ad and inj¥red.
