The founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, has shared the Ethereum roadmap for 2024 and acknowledged that there are only a few changes compared to the previous year.
Vitalik Buterin Explains the Role of SSF in Ethereum's PoS
Buterin stated that the role of Single Slot Finality (SSF) is the most direct approach to addressing most of the shortcomings in Ethereum's PoS design.
The Merge is highlighted as a key element in the plan with the aim of maintaining a simple and robust proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus.
Buterin also noted developments in Ethereum's Single Slot Finality (SSF). Finality aims to ensure that changes to the blockchain block are irreversible without burning at least 33% of the total staked ETH.
"The role of Single Slot Finality (SSF) in post-Merge PoS improvement is becoming more solid. It is increasingly clear that SSF is the easiest way to address most of the current shortcomings in Ethereum's PoS design," expressed Buterin.
Buterin highlighted that rollups, zero knowledge, and account abstraction can support certain values associated with cypherpunk principles.
