Divorce cases are increasing in India, know what are the big reasons?



Like marriage, divorce is also an eternal reality. In the Constitution of India, it has been recognized as the consummation of marriage in section 13 of the Hindu Marriage Act. Wherein in Muslim marriages it is registered under the Dissolution of Muslim Marriages Act, 1939. According to a family court data, about 22 divorce petitions are filed in Mumbai every day. Another statistic says that divorce cases have increased during Kovid. What are the reasons due to which divorce cases have increased.


Awareness of women – In most of the cases these days, women are aware of their rights as a major reason for divorce. Girls who know their rights have started speaking openly against the injustice of husband and family. In order to protect their rights and to save their honor, they have started getting out of the bondage of marriage after birth. Being mentally and financially independent has also helped women to move forward.

Infidelity – This is recorded as the second biggest reason for divorce. According to reports and surveys, mobile phones and dating apps have also contributed a lot to this.

Sexual problems between husband and husband – Lack of sexual compatibility is also considered one of the major reasons for divorce. Many times, lack of interest or concealment of any kind of sexual disorder has also come out in the reasons of divorce. Divorce is also available on this basis.


Domestic Violence or Cruelty – A few decades ago, domestic violence against women, which was considered very common, has now started to raise its voice, women have also started taking a front to get out of more violent relationships. She is ready to take every risk. The Family Court has considered domestic violence as one of the major reasons for divorce. It has also been considered criminal with sufficient evidence in many sections.
