Social Order

A key idea in sociology is social order, which describes how different facets of society interact to preserve the status quo. They consist of:

social structures and institutions
social relations
social interactions and behavior
cultural features such as norms, beliefs, and values

The phrase "social order" is frequently used to describe a state of stability and agreement that prevails in the absence of turmoil and upheaval outside of the discipline of sociology. However, sociologists have a more nuanced interpretation of the phrase. It is used in the discipline to describe how several interconnected aspects of a society are organized. When people accept a shared social compact that stipulates that certain laws and rules must be followed as well as certain standards, values, and conventions be upheld, social order is present. Within national societies, geographic areas, institutions and organizations, communities, formal and informal groups, and even at the level of global civilization, social order can be observed.
In all of them, social order is typically hierarchical; those with more power can uphold the laws, regulations, and standards required to uphold social order. Practices, behaviours, values, and ideas that go against the social order are frequently labelled as harmful and/or deviant and are therefore prohibited by laws, rules, norms, and taboos.
