Alexandra Anna Daddario entered the world in New York City on March 16, 1986, to Christina and Richard Daddario. Her mother, Christina, pursued a career in law, while her father, Richard, served as a prosecutor and formerly led the New York City Police Department's counterterrorism unit. With a rich heritage stemming from Italian, Irish, English, and Slovak ancestry, Alexandra is the eldest among her siblings, with a younger brother named Matthew Daddario and a younger sister named Catharine, both of whom have also ventured into the realm of acting. Notably, her paternal grandfather, Emilio Q. Daddario, held the position of Democratic representative in the U.S. House of Representatives for Connecticut from 1959 to 1971.

Growing up amidst the vibrancy of Manhattan's Upper East Side, Alexandra attended both Brearley School and the Professional Children's School, where she honed her skills and nurtured her passion for acting. At the tender age of 11, she made a resolute decision to pursue a career in the performing arts, fueled by her innate love for storytelling. In her own words, "I always loved storytelling... It was just something I genuinely wanted to do – and I could've done anything, really. I did have every opportunity on the planet." Despite briefly attending Marymount Manhattan College, Alexandra ultimately chose to devote herself entirely to acting, immersing herself in the study of the Meisner acting technique for years.

Daddario embarked on her television journey at the tender age of 15, marking her debut as Laurie Lewis, a victimized character, in the ABC daytime soap opera "All My Children." Her breakthrough arrived with the portrayal of Annabeth Chase in the fantasy adventure film "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" (2010). She also captivated audiences with her recurring role as Kate Moreau, the love interest of Neal Caffrey, in the USA Network procedural drama series "White Collar."

Expanding her repertoire, Daddario showcased her comedic chops in the 2011 film "Hall Pass" and graced NBC's comedy-drama series "Parenthood" as Rachel in a recurring role. The following year, she delved into the world of music videos, starring in Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive," which amassed over 1 billion views on YouTube.

After her Percy Jackson stint, Daddario assumed the lead role of Heather Miller in the slasher film "Texas Chainsaw 3D" (2013). She reprised her role as Annabeth Chase in the sequel "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" in August 2013 and ventured into the realm of romantic horror comedy with "Burying the Ex," which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2014.

Daddario's television prowess shone through when she joined the cast of the HBO anthology series "True Detective" in January 2013, portraying Lisa Tragnetti, a court reporter engaged in an extramarital affair. Her compelling performance, including a nude scene opposite Woody Harrelson, garnered widespread attention. She continued to make waves in the film industry, starring as Blake Gaines in the disaster film "San Andreas" and making a cameo appearance in the pilot of the Fox comedy series "The Last Man on Earth" in the subsequent year. Additionally, she graced "American Horror Story: Hotel" with a guest appearance, portraying a fictionalized version of designer Natacha Rambova.

In 2016, Daddario took on a supporting role in the Nicholas Sparks romantic drama film "The Choice," directed by Ross Katz. Following this, she secured a prominent position as one of the leads in the film adaptation of "Baywatch" (2017), portraying the character Summer Quinn, originally played by Nicole Eggert in the television series. The same year, she showcased her versatility by playing Kate Jeffries in the road trip comedy "The Layover" (2017), helmed by William H. Macy.

Transitioning into 2018, Daddario appeared in Maroon 5's music video for "Wait" and starred as Avery Martin in the romantic comedy "When We First Met," opposite Adam DeVine. Additionally, she had a cameo role as a scuba diver in "Rampage," directed by Brad Peyton, although her scenes were eventually omitted from the final cut. Daddario further demonstrated her range by portraying Constance Blackwood in "We Have Always Lived in the Castle," an adaptation of Shirley Jackson's mystery thriller novel. She also starred in the psychological thriller "Night Hunter," which premiered at the LA Film Festival.

In the realm of television, Daddario depicted the character Jade in the first season of the CBS All Access series "Why Women Kill" (2019-2021). Additionally, she showcased her producing skills by starring in and producing two films in 2019: the romantic comedy "Can You Keep a Secret?", based on Sophie Kinsella's novel of the same name, and the horror thriller "We Summon the Darkness," directed by Marc Meyers.

In 2020, Daddario lent her voice to Lois Lane in the superhero animated film "Superman: Man of Tomorrow" and starred in the noir film "Lost Girls & Love Hotels." Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, she also appeared in "Songbird," the first film shot in Los Angeles during this time.

Daddario's career reached new heights in 2021 with her appearance in the HBO social satire series "The White Lotus" and the film "Die in a Gunfight." Her performance in "The White Lotus" garnered widespread acclaim, earning her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie in 2022. Continuing her momentum, she starred in the 2022 coming-of-age film "Wildflower." Looking ahead, Daddario is set to take on the lead role in the AMC series "Mayfair Witches," based on Anne Rice's novel series "Lives of the Mayfair Witches," beginning in 2023.
