Censorship is never far away
We've not talked about this until now, but it's time to address the spectre of censorship in supposedly "decentralised" networks.
Mastodon and @pixelfed.bsky.social are highly centralised and highly censoring protocols.
It's pretty clear we're a very pro-decentralised media project. And we like pictures of cake.
But we are also both pro AI image generation and pro-crypto. Two things ideologically far left communities have been conditioned to hate via the same 'group think' they accuse far right groups of.
Our pixelfed and Mastodon accounts were banned a few months ago.
We still don't (officially) know why. We never broke any published rules.
Mastodon never replied to us https://mastodon.social/disputes/strikes/195723
Pixelfed never acknowledged it.
Censorship is cancer. It ALWAYS backfires on you.
We love Bluesky.
We are one of the few accounts who have purchased a premium domain.
We hope that Bluesky always resists the calls from the small number of highly ideological users here to censor the protocol in order to exclude anyone that isn't aligned with their world view.
We've never been backwards in highlighting why people need to be thinking of diversifying their social media footprint sooner rather than later.
As our experience shows; censorship is never far away wherever you are. You need a Plan B, C, D... etc..
