Some people appear to have a higher natural baseline for happiness—one large-scale study of over 2,000 twins found that genetics accounted for roughly 50% of overall life satisfaction, 10% was due to external events, and 40% was due to individual activities.
While you cannot control your "base level" of happiness, there are things you can do to make your life happier and more fulfilling. Even the happiest people can experience sadness from time to time, and happiness is something that everyone should strive for.

Get Regular Exercise
Exercise benefits both your body and your mind. Physical activity has been linked to a variety of physical and psychological benefits, including better mood. Numerous studies have shown that regular exercise may help prevent depression symptoms, but evidence also suggests that it may help people be happier. Researchers discovered a consistent positive link between physical activity and happiness in one analysis of previous research on the subject.
Even a small amount of exercise increases happiness—people who were physically active for as little as 10 minutes per day or who worked out only once a week were happier than those who did not exercise.
