The Keys on the Table

I’m doing well, Steve. Thank you for checking.

The office is steady. Your keys are still on the table by the door, right where you left them. Nobody moved them. We don’t treat them like spare keys. They’re yours, and we’re keeping them safe until you return.

Lagos was kind this week. No heavy traffic, no sudden blackouts during meetings. I closed the supplier file, followed up with the client, and made sure the team got paid on time. Everyone is working like you’re in the next room. That’s your standard living here, sir.

I hope you’re doing well too. I hope you’re eating good food, sleeping deep, and laughing without checking your watch. The work will wait. Your peace shouldn’t.

_Que sera, sera._ Whatever will be, will be. We’re not borrowing stress from next week. We’re faithful with today’s task, and we leave the rest to time.

Your name is still respected here. Your seat is still yours. The keys are still on the table.

Come back when you’re ready. We’ll hand them back to you, and the office will feel complete again.
