Radio Hackers May 2024 Newsletter
Welcome to the May Radio Hackers Newsletter.
Readers,
We’re excited to bring you the latest updates from the RH publication this month. As we put the finishing touches on some upcoming articles, there are going to be a few changes over the coming weeks.
Future Articles
As always, we’re busy producing content and tutorials to go into the publishing schedule. In our upcoming articles, we’ll look into the technical side of drone identification as well as using the terminal with your RTL-SDR, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth dongle.
We’ll also start to take a look at sending packet radio signals which will kick off our series on using your laptop and other devices for RF hacking. While packet radio usage has dwindled over the years, the fundamentals behind learning it are useful for RF hacking purposes. A big part of this is interfacing your laptop and other devices with suitable transmitters, and we’ll be exploring that in more detail in later articles as well.
If you’ve heard about devices such as the Flipper Zero or hackRF and wondered what role or use they play in this world, you’re in luck because we have some of these cool tools inbound for testing. Any ideas for articles you’d like to see? Or a tutorial you’d like to read? As always, feel free to get in touch and make a suggestion.
Medium Boost Nominator
Now for the bigger news. We’re pretty excited to announce that Investigator515 & the Radio Hackers publication are joining the Medium Boost Nominator Program! This community-focused initiative is designed to promote quality articles and get them in front of more readers. As part of the program, we’ll be working to elevate outstanding content within the cybersecurity and hacking community, helping to amplify the types of content that might not always make it to the front page. We’re committed to doing our bit to support the Medium community and helping to showcase some of the best and most insightful articles on Medium.
Your Engagement Matters
The Medium Boost Nominator Program is designed to help writers and publications grow. They do this by boosting content to increase engagement and grow your existing follower base. While it’s still a pilot program, the end goal is to have a community of nominators helping to make Medium a better place for readers and learners, just like you.
So with that said, don’t forget that you can also submit your articles to the Radio Hackers publication. We welcome contributions from our community members on topics related to Cybersecurity, RF or Hardware Hacking, and Signals Intelligence. Look for the Radio Hackers submission guidelines as listed below to see how to get your work included.
If you aren’t sure what happens when you’re going through this process, we’ve included a graphic to help show you some of the benefits that come from having your content boosted.
As you can see, being boosted comes with some significant benefits. So, whether you’re an experienced writer or a newcomer with a unique perspective, we want to hear from you! Although we’re also particularly interested in hearing from new writers on Medium, or people looking to increase their existing following organically.
There’s also plenty of information from Medium about this program, so it’s worth taking the time to look at the types of articles that are often boosted. There are also frequently asked questions and other helpful pieces of information designed to increase your chances of writing something that can be boosted, as well as a full breakdown of what is and isn’t allowed.
Please check out this article for Boost FAQ and this piece for Radio Hackers submission guidelines and instructions. Don’t forget that all submissions must adhere to Medium’s Terms of Service (TOS) to ensure compliance with platform policies and guidelines.
