On the occasion of World Environment Day, a discussion meeting and award distribution was organized in Chandpur under the theme 'Let's join together to solve plastic pollution'.
On the occasion of the day, a rally started from in front of the District Commissioner's office and after circling the streets of the city, it ended again at the same place.
Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan said in a function organized at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Monday morning, "The country should be kept livable by providing protection to the environment.
"To this end, we must ensure optimal use of surface water to prevent encroachment and pollution of reservoirs, limit the use of plastic materials and advocate against its misuse, plant trees, protect groundwater. After all, there is no alternative to creating public awareness.”
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bashir Ahmed also spoke on the occasion, Assistant Professor of Geography and Environment Department of Chandpur Government Women's College. Md. Masudur Rahman, Deputy Assistant of Agriculture Extension Department Safayet Ahmed Siddiqui, Additional Superintendent of Police Palash Kanti Barua, Sanak TIB President Piyush Kanti Barua. 
Md. Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Department of Environment gave a welcome speech on the occasion. 
In the last part of the program, environmental writing and drawing competition was organized with children and teenagers to celebrate the day.
Later, certificates and crests were handed over to the total of 20 winners.
