We're in danger of seeing Australia MAGA-ered
The massive anit-MAGA backlash at the last election isn't enough. MAGA seeks not only to destroy the US to dominate it, but also to destroy any opponents in so-called allies.
We can't let them drag Australia down.
Here's the reasons why and how MAGA is already working inside Australia to achieve their deranged vision of a new world order.
The madness of MAGA-nomics
"There are two American economies at the moment: the one being touted by Mad King Donald, which is just around the corner… and only a few months away… and next year… And then there’s the one Americans must live in as the country slides into autocratic kleptocracy — one of stagflation and rising joblessness."

MAGA means waste and fraud. LOTS of it.
"Donald Trump and his minions endlessly rail about “waste, fraud, and abuse” in the federal government. Meanwhile, he and his regime are the most prodigious generators of “waste, fraud, and abuse” in American history.
First and foremost, no president has ever used his office to rack up anything close to the estimated $5B Trump has hauled in for himself, selling everything from tacky gold sneakers to crypto. He has mastered the art of trading on access and enticing foreigners to pony up big bucks (and even an airplane). The most pro-corruption president in history also has stopped enforcement of foreign corruption, crypto fraud and other white collar crimes."

China, not America, are the economic leaders
"Some readers were skeptical when I pointed out Monday that China’s economy is, in real terms, already substantially larger than ours. The truth is that GDP at purchasing power parity is a very useful measure, but if it seems too technical, how about just looking at electricity generation, which is strongly correlated with economic development? As the chart at the top of this post shows, China now generates well over twice as much electricity as we do."

Aussie MAGA plots Australia's downfall through alienating key partners
"For Australia, alienating anyone is not something we can afford. We can’t even afford to upset our Pacific neighbours, lest a Chinese naval base suddenly appear in our region. As a middle power with a major question mark over not merely the willingness of our security guarantor to guarantee our security anymore but its and our own capacity to deliver that guarantee, Australia needs all the allies and favourably disposed countries in its region it can find.
The Liberal response to this problem is to relentlessly attack China and lament that the government isn’t sufficiently hostile to Beijing, which has the effect of alienating Chinese Australians. Now, some within its ranks want to attack Indian Australians, having the effect of alienating the Indian government. Points for finding different ways of upsetting people, of course, but like Australia, the Liberals aren’t currently in a strong position to be following the MAGA playbook of how to lose friends and alienate people."

Our media is being captured by MAGA loving billionaires
"As the pages of the authoritarian playbook get turned one by one, our media — legacy and social platforms alike — are being replaced with the choices of an increasingly radicalised billionaire class, all chattering in tune with the hard right."

Foreigners dominate Australian media. Why?
"Don’t you love the way that News Corp pretends to be Australian?
“We are arguably being asked to surrender our stories, our voice, our culture, our identity, and ultimately, our Australianness,” News Corp Australasia executive chairman Michael Miller warned this week about AI. “If it was a video game, it would be called Grand Theft Australia.”
Quite why Miller thinks he can talk about Australianness is a mystery for the ages. He is employed by an American company, owned and controlled by the Murdoch family, and in particular the American Rupert Murdoch and the dual American-Australian Lachlan Murdoch, who was born in the UK."

Don't let MAGA weaponise Australia's legal system like they're doing to the US's
"It’s hypothetical at the moment, but as Trump’s show trials spread, the risk that another country might be pressed by the United States to hand over a critic of Trump for prosecution on spurious charges grows. As the Assange case demonstrated, Australian governments are reluctant to step out of line with the US even when their own citizens are targeted with blatant and unprecedented abuses of the US justice system, so an American hoping that Australia would recognise the political nature of their prosecution might find themselves out of luck."
