I had no idea what a wallet was.
I assumed gas fees had something to do with automobiles.
And the first time I used MetaMask, I was uncomfortable I'd break anything.

it was the beginning of my Web3 journey and if it describes you, you're already on the right track.

In this blog post, I'll explain how I got started with Web3, the mistakes I made, what I learned, and how you may start your own path with confidence.

🚀 What brought me to Web3?

Like many others, I learned about Web3 through the excitement surrounding cryptocurrency, NFTs, and strange new acronyms such as DeFi, airdrops, and DAOs. However, it wasn't only the hype that drew me in.

It was the concept of ownership owning my data, content, identity, and even my wages.

Bulb and other platforms enabled users to write and earn money without the need of advertisements or middlemen. Communities formed without relying on centralized apps. It felt like a new internet was being built and I didn't want to lose out.

🔐 My First Step: Create a Wallet

The first real step I did was to create a wallet.

I chose MetaMask since it was widely used and provided numerous tutorials. Setting it up was very straightforward.

What was the phrase they told me to write down?
My seed phrase. The keys to everything I own.

Here's what I discovered immediately away:

✅ Take physical notes. Do not store it online.

❌ Never share with anyone, ever. Not even if "support" contacts you.

✅ Use strong passwords and add extra security where possible.

🧪 My first Web3 experiments.

I had my wallet ready and began testing.

I connected to my first dApp (decentralized application), a simple NFT mint website. Then I experimented with token exchanging on Uniswap, testnets such as ZkSync Era, and quests in Galxe and Layer3.

I was not attempting to "get rich." I simply wanted to learn by doing. The key to success with Web3 is gaining experience.

I made mistakes.

Sent tokens to the incorrect chain (painful)

Paid more gas fees than necessary.

I clicked a dubious link (luckily, it did not connect to my wallet).

But I also had wins.

I claimed my first NFT.

Qualified for little airdrops.

I wrote my first Web3 post on Bulb.

Here's what I've learned so far.

After only a few months of exploring, here are my main takeaways.

1. Web3 means more than money.

People discuss earnings, but the true value is ownership, independence, and community.

2. Security is Everything.

Scams are real. Always double-check the URLs. To revoke hazardous rights, use programs such as Revoke.cash.

3. The community is powerful.

Twitter, Telegram, Discord, and Bulb are all examples of open and helpful Web3 communities. When you ask, people respond.

4. You learn by doing.

Do not just read. Click around. Try platforms. Claim NFTs. Do quests. Use test networks. Everything adds up.

🧭 How to Start Your Web3 Journey

Here's an easy path if you want to start today:

✅ Step 1: Create a wallet.

Use MetaMask, Phantom, or Rabby. Back up your seed phrase. Stay safe.

✅ Step 2: Connect to the dApp.

Try something simple, such as ENS domains, Uniswap, or Bulb. Examine how your wallet connects.

✅ Step 3: Perform on-chain activities.

Swap tokens, mint testnet NFTs, and bridge tokens—these modest activities add to your on-chain history and may qualify you for future airdrops.

✅ Step 4: Join communities.

Follow creators on Bulb, join Twitter Spaces, and join Discord servers—don't go it alone.

✅ Step 5: Be Consistent

Web3 moves quickly. Stay curious. Keep learning. Continue experimenting.
