The investigation into the alleged assault of a female police officer, Inspector Bamidele Olorunsogo, by her superior, Matthew Ajayi, was closed by the Osun State Police Command on Sunday. The two police officers work for the Osun State's Ode Omu Police Division. The Divisional Crime Officer, Ajayi, had been accused of assault by Olorunsogo. In a video that recently went viral on social media, Olorunsogo showed raw wounds that she said Ajayi had inflicted on her after she refused to have an affair with him.
Public outrage was also raised by the incident, which caught the attention of the police headquarters. The state commissioner of police, Sunday Faleye, reportedly interrogated the two officers before ordering the area commander, Ikire, to take charge of the investigation and report back to him, according to the Osun police spokesman, Yemisi Opalola, who spoke to PUNCH Metro.

However, the Osun command delayed providing the findings of the investigation, which was meant to conclude in two days, five days after the Inspector-General of Police, Idris Alkali Baba, ordered an investigation into the event.
Asked on Sunday the outcome of the investigation, Opalola, in a terse text message to Punch correspondent, simply wrote ‘no update yet.’
