Grant Hill (Part 3)

Grant Hill's involvement in ownership groups extends beyond basketball. In addition to being a co-owner of the Atlanta Hawks since June 2015, Hill has expanded his ownership portfolio to include other sports franchises.
In January 2024, Hill was part of a consortium that reached a significant deal to acquire the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. The deal, valued at $1.725 billion, involved Hill joining forces with prominent figures such as former Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke, legendary baseball player Cal Ripken, New York investment manager Michael Arougheti, and businessman Michael Bloomberg. This move reflects Hill's expanding influence and investment in the sports industry, showcasing his commitment to various sports ventures beyond just basketball.

Grant Hill's career has extended beyond the court into sports broadcasting. Since 2013, he has been hosting NBA Inside Stuff on NBA TV, providing insights and analysis into various aspects of the NBA.
Hill's broadcasting roles further expanded when he became a sports broadcaster for CBS. In 2015, he was appointed to the lead announcing team for CBS and Turner Sports' joint coverage of the NCAA men's basketball tournament. Hill joined renowned broadcasters Jim Nantz and Bill Raftery in providing commentary and analysis for the highly anticipated March Madness tournament, solidifying his presence as a prominent voice in basketball broadcasting.

Grant Hill's personal life reflects a blend of sports, entertainment, and advocacy. Born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in the Washington, D.C., area, he is the son of former NFL football player Calvin Hill and his wife, Janet Hill.
In the realm of relationships, Hill dated actress Jada Pinkett Smith from 1993 to 1995. Later, he met Canadian singer Tamia in Detroit, Michigan, introduced by Anita Baker. The couple married on July 24, 1999. They have two daughters together: Myla Grace Hill, born on January 23, 2002, and Lael Rose Hill, born on August 9, 2007. The family resides in Windermere, Florida.

Hill's contributions extend beyond the court and into advocacy. Following his life-threatening MRSA infection in 2003, he became an advocate for MRSA awareness and prevention, appearing in public service announcements for Stop MRSA Now!, a non-profit organization.
In recognition of his achievements, Hill received the Golden Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievement in 1999. Academically, he earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University with a double major in history and political science, showcasing his commitment to both athletics and education.

Hill served as Vice-Chairman for the Board of Directors of the Special Olympic World Summer Games in 1999, hosted in Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Grant Hill, along with his mother Janet Hill and grandmother Vivian McDonald, established a scholarship at Dillard University in New Orleans. This scholarship honors Hill's grandfather, a consistent supporter of the university.
He appeared on a poster advocating literacy and reading, supporting libraries and educational initiatives.
Contributing to the day care center founded by his father, Calvin Hill, in New Haven, Connecticut in 1972, Hill provided financial support. The center aimed to assist children and families in the local community following Calvin's graduation from Yale University.
In his hometown of Reston, Virginia, Hill financed an organization aiding financially disadvantaged students of all ages in pursuing their education.

Hill possesses a significant assortment of African-American art, with a focus on the creations of Romare Bearden and Elizabeth Catlett. This collection comprises a selection of 46 pieces, which were showcased in a traveling exhibition across various American museums from 2003 to 2006. The exhibition's final stop was at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Hill's alma mater.
He has forged connections with the Democratic Party. Upon his NBA draft selection, Hill received a congratulatory call from then-U.S. President Bill Clinton. Hill openly endorsed John Kerry's presidential campaign in 2004, as well as Barack Obama's bids for the presidency in both 2008 and 2012.
